Just a question. If I have a european 3DS and would go to Asia or the US, can I still buy games through the eshop?
Do you guys think Nintendo will ignore this and not respond to it? There are a heck of a lot of posts being put on Miiverse every minute, along with all the other social networks.
If they do respond, when do you guys think that will be?
They might actually cave and give everyone what they want. I know they said they're going to "do their own thing", but this is gaining a lot of support. It could actually generate sales in all regions as well. Which is something they desperately need right now.
Will it, though? I mean, yeah I'm very glad that there is buzz going on right now. But will these people clamoring for region free really spike sales? Especially since most of them are already coming from Miiverse already. We should also also ask the question of how dire the situation really is. Yes the Wii U is failing, but is it because of region lock? If Nintendo kept it this way until the end of the generation, do you honestly think this will have a significant effect on the console's sales?
This is not a situation like Xbox One, nor is it like Earthbound. This is case of Nintendo potentially losing money, over what? For all we know they are just waiting on this wave to die out and everyone will forget about it.
We need something a bit stronger, Nintendo should release region lock not to get new customers, but to retain the ones they have. If we speak with our wallets then they'd really listen.
Unfortunately I'm too weak for that

You can now post slightly bigger comments on Miiverse, as you are now allowed 200 characters
Good news for people who want to post longer messages on Miiverse.
Due to popular demand we increased the maximum character limit when making posts and comments from 100 to 200.

I was doubtful at first, but it looks like this movement is picking up some steam. It is nearly at 6k now so I figured I'd sign too. Please sign this petition! Now with over 5000 signatures!

Like I said, speaking with your wallets doesn't amount to anything since you don't actually give Nintendo any concrete information about why "you" in particular didn't buy the product. In this case, Nintendo will have to defer to overall market trends in lieu of your personal voice, and quite frankly region-locking is not a high priority for the general market at large.
This is why for a subset of users that do care, actually communicating with the company is more constructive for niche issues. This allows Nintendo to realize that even though region-locking is not a high priority, it still is a priority for a good amount of their customers.
Cheese, you're fast. I was waiting for that one to be approved (I wrote it) and I come here to find out you've already posted it.Here's a good article on Toon Zone.
Today I wanted to buy Kokuga from the 3DS eShop.
Today I found out it's only available in the US.
Today I decided to not give my money to a system that support this bullshit, I've had it.
....or you could just wait a month..it's confirmed as launching in Europe by the end of July.Today I wanted to buy Kokuga from the 3DS eShop.

Most digital stores (even on tablets and phones) are region locked. Even if Nintendo 3DS carts were region free the eshop wouldn't be.

The direct competitor is free enough. I can access J-PSN on my EUR-Vita just fine.
And download demos? You can't actually play games without getting an extra memory card and going through a ridiculous process everytime you want to switch accounts.
