I love 80s music, and I’m always trying to find songs which bring on the nostalgia. The difficult thing however is actually remembering the songs, and sometimes the titles themselves can elude you.
Keep the replies going with anything produced between 1979-1990? All genres welcome, except country, jazz and blues. This will help us all put together a "radical" 80s soundtrack.
I'll start with:
Duran Duran - Save a Prayer

Heart of Glass - Blondie
Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Lep
Straight Outta Compton - NWA
Frankly Mr. Shankley - The Smiths
Watching the Wheels - John Lennon
Under Pressure - Queen and David Bowie
Master of Puppets - Metallica
Walk This Way - Aerosmith and Run DMC
Fight for your Right - Beastie Boys
THRILLER - Micheal Jackson
Like a Virgin - Madonna
Born in the USA - Bruce Springsteen.

Aha - Take on Me
Dexy's Midnight Runners - C'mon Eileen
Softcell - Tainted Love
Alphaville - Forever Young
Flock of Seagulls - I ran
Depeche Mode - I just can't get enough
Spandau Ballet - True
Ashford & Simpson - Solid
Icehouse - Electric Blue
Men At Work - Down Under
And anything by Smokey Robinson is good. ;)

Speaking of The Smiths, is it uncool to like Morrissey?
I like his song: I'm So Sorry.
It's uncool to dislike Morrissey.

And I believe you're thinking of the song Suedehead.

Always Something There To Remind Me - Naked Eyes
Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Money For Nothing - Dire Straits
Don't You (Forget About Me) - Simple Minds
When the World Is Running Down, You Make the Best of What's Still Around - The Police
Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Tears For Fears

I must say that your taste is impeccable.

Joe Jackson - Steppin' Out

Some favorite 80s pop garbage:

"Heart and Soul"- T'Pau
"Centipede"- Rebbie Jackson
"D'ur D'ur D'etre Bebe"- Jordy (this may be 90/91, though)

Didn't the Wall come out in 1980? Or was it 1979.

I think it was the early 80's... but if you can prove me wrong than my all means do so.

I already included Under Pressure. :p

Hall & Oats - Out of Touch and Maneater

Metallica - Seek and Destroy

Joe Jackson - Stepping Out ... Dice beat me to it

Something undeniably 80's is Africa by Toto...

Naked Eyes - Always Something There to Remind Me

Oingo Boingo - Controller
Oingo Boingo - On The Outside
Oingo Boingo - Heard Somebody Cry
Oingo Boingo - Running On A Treadmill

Trying to go with some lesser known, but nevertheless awesome tunes of theirs.

One night in Bangkok - Murry Head
Rapture - Blondie
Blinded me with Science - Thomas Dolby
Words - Missing Persons
Turning Japanese - The Vapors
Rock me Amadeus - Falco
Der Commissar - After the Fire

Scandal with Patty Smyth, "The Warrior" and Yes, "Owner of a Lonely Heart." But none on this list hold the same weight with me as Don Henley's "The Boys of Summer." That song = :)

The Stone Roses - I Am The Resurrection
Morrissey - Disappointed
Psychic TV - Godstar
Ministry - Stigmata
New Order - True Faith
Prince - Let's Go Crazy
Happy Mondays - Tart Tart

I really wasn't listening to much music during the '80's but I suppose there are some:

Oingo Boing: Controller & Nasty Habits
Bowie: Ashes to Ashes
Talking Heads: Crosseyed and Painless & And She Was
Devo: Beautful World

...it seems like most of the songs I think of as belonging to the '80's are actually from '78, '79, '91, and '92.

What's that one song from 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' where theres a deep voice going "oooooooooh yeeeeeeeeea" That's the best! :lol

Someone beat me to "Bankok."

Although... I'm not so sure how many of you would have actually known about this song until they started playing it recently on the radio.

Here's some fan favorites:

It's My Life -- Talk Talk (80s sounding -- 1999)

Dance Hall Days -- Wang Chung
Don't You (Forget About Me) -- Simple Minds
Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now -- Starting Line

Waiting for a Star to Fall -- C&C Music Factory (not certain this is 80s...)

And perhaps my favorite: You're the Best -- Joe Esposito

That's by Boy Meets Girl, dude. Not sure why you'd think it was C&C, since they've never done anything remotely similar to that song. :p Unless you're talking about a different song, that is...

One of my faves, actually. :)

Duran Duran needs more than one showing. How about "Planet Earth"? And let us not forget the greatness of Prince and the Revolution, for they have given us unworthy sinners Purple Rain.

Here's the funny thing... I have it listed as Boy Meets Girl on the ID3s... I've talked about it to my friends regarding it as Boy Meets Girl... but when I looked it up on the net to see when it was done... C&C popped up all over the place... CLAIMING... it was on an album entitled Boy Meets Girl.

Seeing as how late it was... I just gave into thinking I was wrong all this time... now I'm glad I wasn't.

Thanks!

Hah, funny story. I must admit that C&C Music factory does come up in a lot of song/lyric searches, even when I know for sure that they're not the artist. Perhaps they've paid off google! :D

Thing is, One Way and Heart of Glass are '78, Atomic makes the cut at '79. It's tough because they all got good rotation up till the mid 80s.

Although... I'm not so sure how many of you would have actually known about this song until they started playing it recently on the radio.

They have? Why? Is it something to do with Chess? I was there for the first go round in '85. I haven't turned on a radio station in about three years, I despise what radio has become.
