True but I still like his channel

After seeing these, the game is definitely a pass for me.
Man, these modern culturalizers just can't help themselves when it comes to the butchering and infantilization of Japanese video games.
God dammit, another translation ruined by some dumbass localizer who thinks they’re so funny and clever.
Does it show different English text based on whether you chose JP or English audio? I’ve never seen a game do that before.I'm pretty sure I can choose the Japanese language with English Subtitles
I think that the Engilish Subtitles from the Japanese Dub is much more accurate
Might be wrong though
I can stomach minor liberal changes here and there, especially if they're out of necessity, but a lot of these are blatant rewrites that completely alter the original context of dialogue and character personalities. The problem is that one might as well just skip most Japanese games, since they all get very liberal translations.

A bit lower than I expected, though reading through the review none of the negatives sound too bad for me. Though it definitely seems worth it to wait for a patch or two.
I'd be surprised if many (or any) games change their entire translation based on which voices you choose. Maybe for a few animated scenes or something like that, but certainly not for all the regular text based dialogue.
I distinctly remember many JRPG's having this slightly annoying thing where a character has their name changed in the dub, and if you play with Japanese voices they will say one name but the subtitles (which are based on the dub) will say another.
Oh yeah where the subtitles is different from what the English is being spoken
That's common in anime
Eiyuden sounds like in german when you say hey Jews! It’s a bit of a turnoff for me when it comes to the name.
You mean the reviewers who gave Unicorn Overlord 88 Open critic, or FF VII Rebirth a 93, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth 90, Octopath 2 85, Dragon’s Dogma 2 87……
Seems like most recent JRPGs are getting pretty generous reviews.

Yeah, I’ve been part of the JRPG community for 30 years now (jeez I’m old) and this “western reviewers give bad scores to JRPGs” meme has always been around and it’s always been wrong. If anything western reviewers have been overly generous to JRPGs.I mean those are all great games tho, right? Well, imo DD2 has way too many issues to be rated that highly but all the others yes. Also, Persona 3 Reload
This is def the year of the jrpg

Will black men ever escape this haircut? lmao.
This is like the “generic white space marine” of this generation.

Are these lines just text? Or voice acted? Why even change "rich lady" to "that yelly lady"... which sounds more like a botched translation.
"Rub-a-dub-dub, don't be a flub".
bye.
Playing pre-patch, I'd say it's about the same, honestly.Does it run better or worse than say Ni no Kuni on the Switch? Really want this game but the performance issues were always a bit worrisome. Ni no Kuni was rough in parts on the Switch too but perfectly playable.
Q. Is the localization perfect?
A. No.
Q. Are people overreacting to it?
A. Absolutely.
They just had to throw Chud in there, didn't they?
Surprise! The activists have infiltrated this aspect of game development as well.

The fact that this was crowdsourced worried me from the start, and to be honest what I have seen doesn't look super great. This is coming from an old-ass Suikoden 1/2 fan.
