Lewis Hamilton named most influential black person in UK

Because all sport should have a diverse range of people that have an equal opportunity to compete. so again I'll ask you again why isn't having a more diverse sport a bad thing?
So the NBA should have more white and asian players? Diversity has no place in sport. You know what does? Ability. Skin colour should have nothing to do with it.

And you still haven't told me why diversity is a good thing. Only that it 'should happen'. For some reason. Maybe you can come up with one. Eventually.

You're the one who made the claim and is being asked about it.

It's very telling that you avoid answering a simple, direct question about your own claim - and that you do this in the form of deflecting back onto the person who hasn't even made a claim in the first place.

Because all sport should have a diverse range of people that have an equal opportunity to compete.

Sport, by it's nature, is competition. The best, most talented and most dedicated performers rise to the top. Today, performance in professional-level sport is analysed on a variety of highly granular and very specific scientific levels, from aerodynamics, to diet, to mental resilience.

What does the fuzzy and nebulous term 'diversity' contribute to that performance metric? Provide examples that give quantitave substance to your answer.

I don't know about most influential but he's definitely the rarest black person in the UK.
Being a great driver alone makes him a fucking unicorn.

I know I know I used a stereotype to make a joke. I'm a very bad person.

He is definitely a great driver, especially when it comes to managing tires.
But he was lucky to get into a dominate car/team after his early well earned success which he can thank for his record breaking success.

That said I find his politics and personality to be totally insufferable.
When he speaks about any of the topics he is supposedly so passionate about he does it in a way that is so shallow and devoid/ignorant of any detail that he just comes of as being inauthentic. And he is guilty of selfishly pushing his own agendas into the sport and slandering those who have disagreed with him calling them racists.
No other driver would get away with what he has done. I think his success and special treatment has led to him having a complete disconnect from the real world and situation of real people. Also he doesn't even let his dog eat meat, that is animal cruelty as far as i'm concerned.

Anyone who thinks they can trademark thei name deserves no sympathy regardless of any skill gained through years of a career bankrolled by a wealthy father.

I don't understand this reasoning at all.
You are apparently operating from the mindset that things *should* be 'diverse'.

Why is the default not: everyone competes in the sport they want.

What even *is* 'diverse'? Are there enough computer programmers in racing? What about catholics? Or is 'diverse' only the things we can see such as color or gender.

I think you don't realize how much woke ideology has saturated your thinking.
Understand that intersectionality (which 'diversity' advocates appear to be using) is infinite.

Think some of you missed the point;

Most Influential is just that, Influential. He's a black guy that defied a lot of the odds to get where he is. His mantra has been about having a dream and striving to realise it; which he did, and is something he frequently mentions about telling others, particularly children that if they really want something, to have a go at it. That alone makes him someone young people can look up to and sports like Formula 1 are huge in Europe and Lewis has gone about being one of if not the most successful there has ever been. His rise to where he is now is actually quite contrary to that of many of the other drivers around him that either came from being the child of a former motor sporting parent, coming in with a big backer or otherwise been wealthy enough to afford to self finance. Apart from being black, even his story on getting into F1 he had to do it on merit.

He also supports a lot of charities and causes, particularly those that cater for children; whether they are ill or in need of guidance.

His commission into diversity is not based on affirmative action but looking at the grass roots reasons as to why there are next to no black men or women involved in racing; as a driver, engineer, mechanic etc. It's not about forcing in the numbers but trying to out why it's not as common and if so, look at creating foundations to build upon that would give them an opportunity skill up to be able to get involved.

No, his early career was bankrolled by his dad. No fucking bootstrapping involved, just a pushy parent.

An unknown rookie driver who was a stand-in for Hamilton cause he has Covid nearly won his debut GP proving without a doubt that the Mercedes Hamilton drives is so dominant any competant driver could win championships in it. There should be an asterisk next to his number of world titles.

I'm seriously wondering if the "colossal team error" that cost him the win wasn't done on purpose to not embarrass Hamilton.
