Hey boys
This has been a well documented problem for years now judging by the number of posts on the internet.
I'm going to be honest, i mainly use my C2 as a gaming TV so i don't frequently use its internet capabilities/features but, i don't remember it being THIS bad.
After turning ON the TV, internet/apps work fine but as soon as i start switching/fiddling between them a couple of times (say, watching Youtube for a a couple of minutes, go back to the home screen, open Spotify, listen to some music, go back to home screen, open LG channels) the internet connection drops (black screen on apps/nothing loads) even though the Wi-fi is still connected (by checking in the TV's network settings)
This can be replicated EVERY TIME by doing the above.
I've tried pretty much everything :
- Latest firmware (obviously) 13.30.85
- Static IP on my C2
- IPV6 to OFF
- Google DNS (8.8.8.8)
- Having 2 different SSIDs (2.4GHz & 5GHz) set, connection drops with both of them
- Gave my C2 priority in my TP-Link's settings
- Factory reset the TV
Router sits in the same room as my C2 by the way.
NOTHING seems to help - but here's the kicker - the behavior is the exact same even when i hardwire the TV via Ethernet (and yes, i manually turn the Wi-fi option to OFF when doing so as per some tips on the Internet).
Again, i don't remember this being such a problem and IMO, it's something that got worse with a FW update (?).
Kicker No.2 : After pulling my hair in frustration for 2 hours straight, i tried something else : connecting the C2 via my phone's Wi-fi hotspot and, to my surprise, everything works as it should, as in, i have no internet drops whatsoever !
So, theoretically, that should take the C2's Wi-fi/Ethernet module being faulty out of the equation since it works properly via Hotspot and it's probably my Tp-link archer AX53 wi-fi 6 router that's to blame ? But why ? everything else works perfectly fine (PS5, iPhone, Ipad, Tab S9, S24U, laptop, Tower PC etc etc), it's just the G'damned C2 that constantly drops its connection.
I don't know what to do at this point, bought the C2 on December 2022 so i still have a couple of months of Warranty left - is this a hardware thing ? Did this got worse via a shitty FW update ? Is there something that can be done/options to enable via my router ? Is there a permanent fix after 2 years ?
And oh, getting an Android box would be like trying to "fix" the problem by throwing more money at it, it's inexcusable that this is still a thing...
Thanks in advance for any replies, cheers
PS : I've been reading that this is a thing even on Sony TVs etc and it's due to the bad/cheap network cards these TVs have, can anyone confirm ?
