I've had it after that whole debacle as well. I'm fine with people not boycotting it. But going into a thread specifically about their contemptible endeavors and saying "lol I love them gonna grab them for lunch" is just stupid.

I've had a gnawing fear in the pit of my stomach ever since Trump won the election. At first I thought it was shock and a bit of me getting caught up in some hysteria. But it's not going away. I think about it every time i go to bed. I am afraid I am going to lose it at Thanksgiving when my Republican family brings up politics. Maybe I should step away from reading the news for awhile.

No, we need some big movements again instead. Not just petitions or one day per year where people like us run around with a parade. I don't think that will be enough to make us heard.

Fighting violence with violence isn't a good path. As a last resort, maybe. But buying guns for self defense? Crazy. Learn how to diffuse situations, or how to avoid them. Better plan than fighting off bigots with a knife or any other kind of weapon. You'd just get yourself or others hurt or killed.
I'm not picking fights. I'm semi-openly gay. I can be a target at any time. It's for my safety, not for starting fights.

I'm personally not going to carry, but I don't really think diffusing is always an option. I agree that not escalating it yourself is always an option, but sometimes the other party escalates no matter what you do. And avoidance is somewhat ridiculous. LGBT clubs and bars could be at risk of attack. Holding hands with your significant other puts you at risk. We should not have to hide in the shadows. Going back into the closet is less preferable to me than LGBT individuals beginning to conceal carry en masse.

So what, make the LGBT movement a small army in the right wing / conservative press' eyes? Police would shoot LGBT protesters more often then - just in case they'd say - out of fear, to avoid any deaths on the police's side. As would the bigots who bully us. Don't invite any unnecessary deaths, try to stay calm and find another way to resolve things, or find a way to escape, or, as I said, avoid situations alltogether. I don't mean you shouldn't hold hands, in the bigger cities it probably isn't a big problem anyway, but to avoid the bigots who already seem like the violent type. Be cautious. You won't be safe, not even with a gun. It's a waste of money. Guns always never de-escalate situations, and certainly not in the hands of untrained civilians.
I would recommend pepper spray as it's a much easier way to disable perpetrators without causing permanent injury, plus the nature of it as a spray makes it easy to use in situations where you're outnumbered.
If you're using a gun or a knife for self-defense you must be absolutely prepared to kill your aggressors. I really do not recommend it. You might come out alive, but it will fuck you up mentally for life (and depending on how stacked the court and evidence are against you, you might also lose your freedom). Pepper spray is a much safer option all-around. Less lethal, quick, not nearly as loud as a gun, no bleeding everywhere, etc., etc.

We still may get killed so why not at least try to survive? Unnecessary deaths are already happening so why not put a fight for survival? In the end those who hates us with or without weapons they will attack us so what wrong are we doing in defending ourselves? In a perfect world none of this would happen but your view seems rather unrealistic with the way things are developing now. Is it better to lose your life without a fight just because you want the pacifist route? Not really. Every life matters and everyone if needed must fight to stay alive cause every life matters and just because some bigots want to take some lives over disagreements that doesnt mean we have to stay quiet and take it because sadly racism and homophobia is strong and we need to keep ourselves safe.
Also how well did the non violence worked in the end for Martin Luther King? And how well did some other non violent protest have ended with people being beat up and murdered? Im sorry but we can't just sit there waiting for a miracle to fix this.

I know I cut out the rest of your post, but this line in particular is concerning to me. The whole point/mission statement of the Pink Pistols is to provide competent firearms training to civilians. Yes, you should never be using a gun untrained.
I agree that pepper spray is likely the better option. Guns statistically don't actually make you safer.
