MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE END OF EPISODE 2
There's one thing in particular that instantly made me completely infatuated with this game.
Yes, you can save Kate. But in order to do so, you had to have paid attention to her life. It doesn't give you any hints, any clues--in a way, it's a question of how much you were roleplaying. Did you actually care about Kate? Did you take the time to get to know her, to a degree that not only did you look into her family life, but were interested enough in it that you remembered? It's an almost forth-wall breaking thing, and really drives home the emotion of the scene. I had such a sense of panic going through me during that scene, and it was the exact same panic that Max felt. The fear that I didn't get to know her well enough, that I wasn't a good enough friend to save her.
Big episode 4 spoiler:Well, technically there is only one right choice for one of the decisions.
(Massive not really spoiler for...think it was episode 2?)
Better pick them bacon and eggs, m'fer.
Life is terrifying.

Was driving to work today listening to the first song that plays in episode 4,, and came to the conclusion that of this game sticks the landing, it will be one of the best story experiences of the year in any medium.at the party
Was just watching a Twitch Stream of LiS, and the chat on that particular stream mentioned that Episode 5 could be released as soon as Tuesday, August 25! This is according to the Steam Release page for LiS episodes.
So, what does Gaf think about this? Could Episode 5 actually be coming out on Tuesday?
As of today, Dontnod are only just recording necessary voice work for episode 5, so there is absolutely 0 chance. Late Sept at earliest. More likely to be October
I picked this up yesterday. Excited to check it out! I just need to wrap up Resident Evil Revelations 2 first, then i'm hoping to squeeze in an episode or two before MGS5 comes out. Is this a good game to take breaks from or wait and tackle all at once?
As far as these type of narrative games go -- it's probably the best one since The Walking dead. The Wolf Among Us had great peaks but was quite inconsistent, first episode (especially the ending) was fantastic. I really like Walking Dead Season 2, but I know it has a tonne of problems. Only played the first Tales from Borderlands episode, was good, showed promise, i'll go back to it. Game of Thrones has been a mixed bag, episode 1 had an incredible ending, but the rest of the season hasn't matched it -- plenty of time to redeem that though.
I feel really great about Life is Strange, all the way through. I know some people have hated on the writing, and I feel like this is comparable to when people complained about Juno, it's just something I feel works in the established world, and there's a consistency to it that just works for the characters -- the "no-one talks like that!" argument doesn't really hold any weight in my books.
I love this game, I'm going to miss these characters so much.
Seconded.
GOTY for me is probably going to be TW3 (I just can't see anything upcoming that's going to top it) but LiS really has been outstanding aside from the stupid bottle hunt section. Like KoruptData I really hope that they deliver on the ending, because it would be a shame if Dontnod stumbled at the last hurdle. Albeit I guess it's unlikely we'll see these characters again (though I'd be totally up for Max as some kind of time travelling photographic detective set in NYC or some such). I hope that Dontnod produce further narrative games of this quality.
Telltale need to take a long hard look at LiS and get their act together. Re-evaluating their game engine choice wouldn't be a bad starting point.
I tried the trial for Episode 1. When Max puts her headphones in and the Syd Matters song comes on, I was sold.

Well, after about a week of lurking in this thread, you all convinced me. Bought the season pass and will play tonight.

Nothing else is really close for me. Witcher 3 maybe but I don't know when or if I'll ever finish that.
If the ending of LiS falls flat, no one's going to remember it outside of the disappointing end.
