I'm positive the frame rate is only because of the GT video...

Or else there's no way the "Logo" animation would be that jerky.

Well that looked rather meh.

That outfit is pretty ridiculous, she looks half Cowboy half Assassin, and I swear as each FF13 comes out their heads look slightly too big for their body each time. They have tried, and continue to try, way too hard to make Lightning a cloud 2.0.

Visually it is all over the place, looked rather rushed and rather early gen, the battle scene looked especially cut with the buildings and nothingness, I don't remember it looking so plain in previous FF13's.
They also continue to push in a few more platforming elements but end up demonstrating again that their animation while running around the world is still at PS2 levels.

I will probably buy it like I did FF13/-2, but I am mostly looking forward to it coming out so we can finally move on from FF13 as a whole, and ideally onto better things. I am still unsure why they tried to make FF13 this series that most probably don't want at this point.

Square really did fuck themselves with the entire XIII project. I don't know which tenured producer pitched the snake oil internally... but if anyone recalls, like six years ago they made grandiose statements about how the world of XIII was this whole universe people would get lost in, etc. A franchise within a franchise.

The thing is, back in the day Square often began prototyping a new FF game while the current game was still in development. Due to how large the projects were. I distinctly remember an article in the late 90s about FF IX being in planning stages complete with concept art, while FFXIII was still deep in development.

I wonder if this time, they actually got caught up in their own bullshit and didn't even bother devising a backup plan or future project while they were killing themselves trying to turn XIII into something? Did FF15 even really exist, at least as an idea or proposal, when Wada set the new terms? Do they have a single clue what to do next?

Regardless, really horrible that this was supposed to be official. They thought this was actually presentable. And they will ignore the negative feedback this trailer gets of course.

I just said she gave me a Batman vibe with the glasses, all the more apparent after watching Batman Year One.

No. They won't. I guarantee they'll take this feedback and add an additional notice at the beginning or end of the video saying, "Quality does not represent the final product. The following is a work in-progress." or something like that.

No stagger bar. Or maybe it's been moved elsewhere. Those blank icons under enemy HP bars are rather suspicious. The more that I look, the more that I think they *are* the new stagger bar. They vibrate or otherwise change every time an enemy is hit. At one point, they're filled in with debuffs. Wonder what that's about?

Blinded by Light remix is sexy as hell. Pretty much confirms that the soundtrack will be fantastic, which I'm excited about. All in all, I like the trailer quite a bit. Hope it has a short localization time like XIII-2. Eager to see what other details about the battle system show up in the next few months.

Maybe when she attacks enemies she weakens each of those icons, and once they're weakened enough she can stick a status effect in there or they automatically get a status effect?
 
It looked quite rough, but still I didn't hate what I saw, it's just I'm tired of FFXIII. I want to move on. I said it when they started showing FFXIII-2, I wanted them to take the feedback from XIII and any new ideas and build them into a ground up FF and I still feel that way.
 
oh man, I don't think I'm one to complaint about showing skin in costume design, in fact, I kinda welcome that kind of fan service, but that costume is ridiculous, it's like they want to be modest with all the capes hiding the skin, but the inner costume is ridiculous, sideless, backless, and no pants, might as well be naked apron design without all that capes. holy hell Nomura, you can do a lot better than this. I'll just assume you got impossible mandate from the higher up. :(

No trailers, from no outlets, running in any video player make a game look that bad.

It's a rushed mess. It isn't even a surprise.

Yeah if Lightning x Hope doesn't happen I will be extremely disappointed.

I want an all out on-screen Lightning x Hope awkward makeout session.

OK just saw the trailer ...
i loved ff13 and more FF13-2 but something feels "off"

But then again the lihgt trailer teaser from ff13-2 felt off too

SO now i'm lightly optimistic

It's obvious that the game is really early. The city during the fight looks like the cardboard backgrounds of the PSone era in HD. During exploration it gets a bit better, PS2 like :D
It seems like the game won't arrive until the end of 2013, which means that Versus XIII LOL LOL LOL......
