"Should we use the old or the new name?"
"yes"

Edit:
Also maybe it's just the angle, but the dude at the end looks a bit skinny to be Kazuma

They're gonna ruin it, aren't they?

Appreciate it OP, adding it to my list now. For those who need something to watch in the same vein until it releases in October, I highly recommend Michael Mann's Tokyo Vice.

Yeah this show is tight. I watched the first season. The guy who plays the young yakuza guy in this show would be a good kiryu.

We'll have to wait and see.
If it's an actual foreign production it might be decent. Seems like these streaming services only force their american shows to put the blue haired activists in the writing room.

This is just the English name of Ryū ga Gotoku 7.
But the other way around.
And it seems to focus on Kiryu

Yakuza translated to life action form in the vein of the games could be the best thing or the cringiest shit ever.

Nearly every Yakuza member in that show felt like they would fit perfectly in the Yakuza I.P. and probably Judgment too.

It depends on if they go the more serious route like Tokyo Vice or if they take the tone of the recent games.

Based on the clothing it looks like it will be adapting Yakuza 0. A good place to start a series. At the beginning. Also works with the younger looking lead.

Can't wait for Kiryu and Majima to have a disco-off and exchange long, lustful stares.

How to train your dominatrix sub story or we fucking riot. Also please establish a connection to Pocket Circuit Fighter for future seasons. Genuinely loved experiencing his story over the course of the games.

If you told me 10 years ago we would be getting an amazon funded Yakuza show I would have called you crazy. Amazing how this franchise has grown throughout the years.

I was in the trenches back on the GAF in the old days begging for a Y3 localisation. The it came with that horrendous boxart and all that cut content. But I was still happy.

Then I got the Y4 steel book edition to show my support for the series.

I never thought the franchise would be in the situation it is now in 2024 relatively booming and having cut through into a pretty big audience.

Same as Xenoblade and even more so NieR which were also on the verge of fading after the 1st game. Now they're some of the most popular Japanese games.

i'd also recommend one of the main inspirations of the series, the yakuza papers: battles without honor or humanity...

I don't see this guy as Kiryu. Even slightly more bulked up, his face and voice aren't a good match imo.

Will still check it out, hopefully it's good.

Ohhh didn't notice the one who directed "Naked Director" also direct this.

"Naked director" is crazy good and goofy just like Yakuza side quest. So I think this might be great.

It will either be major suck balls or a surprise hit.

Yeah the show had an amazing atmosphere, good acting. The plot was eeeeeeh in season 2, it just didnt hit the landing I was expecting but still a good show.

Just because, these are three of my favorite Yakuza movies but they are a bit weird.

A Colt is my Passport

I really need to watch Battles Without Honor and Humanity.

Well, the actor was actor for kamen rider drive... Its still weird, though.
I dont know how he is able to be kiryu because the face is not quite similar or anything. Although i watched some of his show, its still bugs me why him, though...

I don't know, guys. From the little teaser I think it actually looks good. I like the tone they are going for and even the cast doesn't look half bad. I'm expecting a decent show.

Live action. NICE. Wanna check out Tokyo vice too.

Hope they get the hair right. That's vital. I guess the poofy haired guy from like a dragon isn't in this one but my point stands
