"Like a one man human centipede"

My problem is that they've spread this FUD as if the consoles were unrecoverable.
I'd be like wtf too if my new console almost bricked on me. He fixed it, but that doesn't change the fact that there was a problem in the first place. So it's well deserved.
removing the harddrive does not void warranty.

Removing the HDD does not void the warranty.

In fact, the glossy part slides right off to do so.

My bad, and that's good to hear.Still it seemed like a lot to go through on day 1. No consumer wants to experience that.

Well I hope someone tells the OP.

Not that I think Sony would be dicks about it, but removing the cover and then taking out the hard drive would fall under 'tampering', which will void your warranty.

Dude.....no no No No NO NO.

You can open up ANY PS4 and change the hard drive. Stop saying it voids warranties.

Imagine if some dudes just broke into his house, jacked his PS4 , all live .... with this guys luck it could happen tonight.

I would probably slap my wall, dance like a peacock, then try to jump out my window. Nothing is unexpected at that point.

He got the stream working! And now that he's streaming actual PS4 gameplay instead of footage of a bricked box his audience went from 6K to 1K.

People who have been asking the question "When does next-gen officially start?" - that was it, right there.

Summary:

1) Dudes PS4 froze while downloading/install DCU, unplugged the system, and wouldn't turn back on correctly
2) Called Sony support. They wanted to send repair box
3) Guy took out HDD and booted with no HDD
4) Got an error
5) Put HDD back in and it worked

Oh, I thought you meant the old 4chan trick of order hundreds of 'unpaid' pizzas to one address, which fucks over everyone involved. If everyone paid for the pizzas they bought, I guess it would be pretty harmless. Weird, but harmless.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking of that way. I should have been more specific. But it still would get pretty bad after 6-7 Pizzas. But at least we would be supporting his local economy. heh.

I said earlier he should take the HDD out and boot to see if anything in the boot sequence would change with out the HDD. I assume there must be some alternate boot sequence without the drive.

Yeah, but he should've been able to get to safe mode by holding down the power button, so, something higher level was going on corruption-wise.

It was a good guess when all else failed but I considered it a long shot, to be sure.

It was very simple. You can break it down into steps though.. lol

1. Grab a screwdriver
2. Unscrew the Hard Drive
3. Take it out
4. Boot up PS4 without Hard Drive.
5. Turn off PS4.
6. Put hard drive back in
7. Boot up hard drive
8. Automatically installs firmware

Fixed
