"Like a one man human centipede"

Today is just not his day.

On the bright side, he did get a ton of viewers from this. Also it's because of those viewers that he got it fixed.

..............So people can't expect their console to work properly day one without having to break it apart, and void their warranties? We should all be able to remove our HDDs? This is corporate apologizing at it's finest.

There's a reason people buy consoles over PCs: convenience without that, you're better off getting a gaming PC.
My problem is that they've spread this FUD as if the consoles were unrecoverable.

yooo how did he fix it?

He took the HDD out and booted it. It booted to safe mode. He turned if off and put the HDD back in. He turned it back on.

removing the harddrive does not void warranty.

Removing the HDD does not void the warranty.

In fact, the glossy part slides right off to do so.

It was very simple. You can break it down into steps though.. lol

1. Grab a screwdriver
2. Unscrew the Hard Drive
3. Take it out
4. Boot up PS4 without Hard Drive.
5. Turn off PS4.
6. Put hard drive back in
7. Boot up hard drive
8. Automatically installs firmware

Fixed

Oh god. He almost didn't find a screwdriver.

He said he swapped in another, but honestly booting WITHOUT one seemed bad. I'm not really getting what was wrong with the streamers system, he put in the same HDD afterwards.

This is a Cerny built console though, bruh, you're thinking about how it used to be. Cerny's all about that forward thinking, self repairing future.

Remove cartridge, blow, reinsert, prosper. Timeless.

And moments after I said he needed to be humbled for saying he was better than Sony tech support, channel is flagged. LOL. This is brilliant.

Hahah, yeah I caught that part. This thread is classic, and that man is infamous.

Well, in the end, it makes me feel better about this issue. Regardless of what triggered it (the OP didn't unplug it that I'm aware of), now we know it's not a hardware fault, and more importantly, it's Easy Mode to fix.

Ok. Your description... Just... Stop.

...

You say software issue. I say don't unplug your system unless it's properly fucking shutdown.

You need to drop the attitude man. I can get into safe mode after formating my entire hard drive and corrupting it with a thousand viruses and unplugging it while it's doing a scan and making hundreds of writes a second. The fact that this guy couldn't get into safe mode without removing the hard drive and letting it boot without a hard drive tells me something fundamental on the hard drive or firmware got jacked.

No shit you don't unplug your system while it's doing an update, but even if it say there for 2 years straight doing the system update and he didn't unplug it it shouldn't require you to cause a hardware fault to get into safe mode.

Why is everyone surprised this solution worked, wasn't it known that this could be possible based on how its hard drives and flash memory interacted with each other?
