"Like a one man human centipede"

You don't get into safe mode to fix a corrupted Windows install by removing the hard drive, booting the computer, turning it off, and putting the hard drive back in and turning it on.

Safe mode wasn't able to be entered without causing a hardware fault (in this case a missing hard drive). This is not how it should work.

F8 after POST.

Edit: Are we talking about Windows or PS4?

He said he swapped in another, but honestly booting WITHOUT one seemed bad. I'm not really getting what was wrong with the streamers system, he put in the same HDD afterwards.
It really does, but it worked. This is good to know for when it happens to other people.

The moment he fixes it..it gets shut down.

This was much more fun than I expected.

I'm referring to a lack of initiative on their part. They need to all learn how to troubleshoot. And get better eating habits.

..............So people can't expect their console to work properly day one without having to break it apart, and void their warranties? We should all be able to remove our HDDs? This is corporate apologizing at it's finest.

There's a reason people buy consoles over PCs: convenience without that, you're better off getting a gaming PC.

Step 1. Remove harddrive and boot up PS4 without it, and then power off

Step 2. Put harddrive back in

Step 3. Boot up PS4, it will get an error of some sort

Step 4. Reboot it and it should be in safe mode

Can I get a summary? I missed the whole thing.

Some broken PS4. Dude contact Sony, they try to help but it didn't work. Dude goes 'I have no idea what I am doing" mode and fix it. Starts to brag about it. Has no idea how to stream a game or manage downloads on the console. There, terrible summary, but better than nothing.

I can't remember exactly, but it involved him turning on the PS4 without the HDD present, causing the system to throw a hardware error of some kind, which had the effect of convincing the PS4 to start functioning, after which he replaced the HDD and was good to go.

OP needs to try this on his.

so the op wasn't the only one with the problem?

someone fill me in goddamnit

Op has a problem aswell Sony is sending a repair box.. No other news yet

Somebody linked this stream to the thread.

Streamer pulled the plug on his console when it froze during downloading of DCUO. Fixed it by unplugging the HDD then putting it back.

Wait....how is that a lot of steps like the other guy said? That seems simple as shit.

It was very simple. You can break it down into steps though.. lol

1. Grab a screwdriver
2. Unscrew the Hard Drive
3. Take it out
4. Boot up PS4 without Hard Drive.
5. Turn off PS4.
6. Put hard drive back in
7. Boot up hard drive
8. Automatically installs firmware

Fixed
