"Like a one man human centipede"

Some consoles shipped with fragmented HDDs?

no. drives don't fragment until you put data on them. and at that, it takes some time. also, unplugging your hard drive and plugging it back in wouldn't fix that issue. the system would need to boot and run a defrag operation.

something is wrong with the console. it could be as simple as a factory reset/drive wipe, or it could be something far deeper.

Well everyone is focused on this stream. There are plenty of other streams with people actually playing without any problems. Just search for the game on the Twitch search menu.

That guy either has bum hardware, he is an idiot or he is trolling. Or all 3!

After playing a brief game of NBA 2k14 I quit and inserted my battlefield 4 disk. The system prompted for an update, so while watching the progress bar (Around 20%) my controller light turned from blue to white. Hasn't worked since...

Get those extended warranties ready! and SCEA on speed dial!

**UPDATE**
Went thru a number of "fixes" with customer service and none of them worked. They are shipping me a box to get the unit serviced.
Safe Mode on the console no longer works.

**UPDATE** 2

For shits and giggles, swapped the hard drive for a fresh one, that also didn't work.

Realistically a successful launch for an electronic product like this will register <2% or so failure. Some WILL fail and when you're talking hundreds of thousands of units or even over a million, unless there's a significant percentage this shouldn't even be thought about or paid attention to.

In this day and age I don't think that the MS experience with the 360 and the RROD will ever be repeated and certainly not by Sony with their vast experience in producing electronic devices. People shouldn't even worry about this. Sure, your console MIGHT break, but the odds are very far against that happening.

This guy must be trolling people. Can't count and hold a damn power button for 7 seconds...ridiculous.
Edit: WTF did he seriously kill his TV because of his power antics? Such an idiot.

You guys do know sata HDD's are hot swappable so there would be no issue with removing it or plugging it back on unless it was writing data but its clearly not doing anything.
Depends on the system, not all SATA is hot-swap.

Things like this stream act as painful reminders that not everyone knows as much about computers as I do (I do tech support for a living)... we techies tend to take these things for granted, like removing and reformatting hard drives, properly rebooting systems, etc. I can do this stuff in my sleep and this guy's like "What's a hard drive?"
