Linus Tech Tips - I Was The FIRST To Game On The RTX 5090

Honestly, it feels like Nvidia is daring folks to buy the 5090. Difference between 4080 and 4090 was $400 at launch. Now it is a gotdang thousand dollars.
Need to see real world benches because I was severely underwhelmed by the presentation the other night. I may snag a 5080 to replace what was a stop gap 4070 in my other rig, but I don't see the value personally in the 5090. If its a good 30-40% without the frame gen then I might just bite. Just. But I don't see that happening.

I'm the same but then again, I'm not one who cares about 200-300 fps gaming either. I've been shopping around for a GPU for about a month and bought a 4070 Super knowing I have 60 days to return it. Right now, as I look at the new stuff, I'm tempted to return the Super and make a lateral move to the 5070. I'll save $100 and get all the new architecture stuff. I could pay the extra $200 for the extra 4GB of VRAM but honestly, I haven't really had much to complain about with 12GB as it is. Still not sure. Then there is AMD.....so we will see.

Linus tech tips use to be ok but its clear as day it's all about the buck now. I cannot stand to watch them anymore.

Of course. There was a two-fold scandal about them back in 2023. One involving an employee who claimed to have been mis-treated at work, and Gamer's Nexus also took his company and his product testing practices apart because he concluded (after citing a number of examples) that were sacrificing quality for quanity and it was affecting the accuracy of their work.

He was spot on at the time.

Chasing more and more video views for $$$.

Hopefully we will have actual tests by end of January for 5090, 5080 and maybe 5070Ti. I think 5070 will get pushed further down a bit.

And no idea about AMD but it shouldn't be too long now they Nvidia pricing has been announced.

Was a bit over the top in this video but he's usually a pretty good mix of information and entertainment. A little surprised by the vitriol here

Easy to find info online on why people may have that feeling towards him. The same with Austin Evans.
I tried to find some info and nothing was coming up apart from "I find him annoying" which is fair enough.

Linus is solid in my book, yes I can only tolerate him in small doses but I don't see where the hate is coming from.

I'm not going to derail the thread, but there was a bit of controversy last year that Gamer Nexus exposed. If you enjoy LTT content then that's all that matters.

Didn't even take me 20 seconds to find this from a google search. There was also a heated discussion on this forum about it at the time. Fair enough if you enjoy his content but he's lost my interest in his channel along with Austin Evans and that's a whole 'nother story.

Of all the tech channels, why did Nvidia pick this moron....
What I want to know as well.
Brand recognition, high viewership count, casual and semi-casual consumer audience.

I don't know why OP posted this Linus vid here. His content is arguably not meant for people who already know the ins and outs of GPUs and CPUs. His content is meant for the casual/semi-casual audience who want a quick visual confirmation as to why this new product is better or worse than the previous one. Sometimes he even gives simple tutorials on how to improve said product.

He is one small step above MKBHD and iJustine in terms of informative content.

Hmm, when you put it that way it makes sense then I guess.

These x4 FG artefacts that Linus pointed out were very noticeable even on his video. The old FG 2x looked great because even if you had an artefact in one frame, the next frame was real and looked perfect therefore artefacts were not so easy to notice. FG x4 will render just one real frame and generate 3 frames, so artefacts will be impossible to ignore.

Neogaf is sad . Linus did points out the artifacts from frame gen and its shortcoming , but if you read the responses here , you would thought that he was only glorifying framegen as a magical solution from thin air .

What a sad echo chamber this place had become . I sense a lot of jealousy

Well that would mean watching one of his videos.
