Linus tech tips is disappointed that the steam machine won't be priced like a console.

If this thing costs only 100 less than Microsoft's upcoming superpowered hybrid, then it's a no brainer that I'm spending that extra 100 and buying the Xbox for next-gen power.
And for me it is the opposite. The price is irrelevant, I wouldn't be getting the Steam Machine to save money somehow, and the xbox could be half of the cost and I wouldn't want it, like I don't want it now.

Judging by PS5 Pro sales, it seems power isn't everything for the average consumer. Then there's the fact that in PC land only a select few opt for high end rigs with the majority of PC players having older, less powered systems. I think the new Steam machines fills a very nice and attractive balance for a larger target base.

Smart.

Hardly matters to console gamers.

This thing needs to compete with the console market to be relevant, and having an infinite amount of random Steam games won't matter much, because it's not like we are not getting all the games we want on PS5 and Series. I can't name a single game available on Steam, that I want to play, and that is not Series.

And there are also games available on Series that are not on Steam, on top of it...
Traditional console gamers like us are dinosaurs on the way to extinction. Kids these days don't care about console brands.

I thought steam deck was cheap'ish because they did subsidized some of the cost of the hardware because of the money they made with steam. They make a console like pc with a console like interface, even had a gaming handheld pc with a reasonable price yet they potentially wanna charge maybe around the price of ps5 pro. This is like them bringing out the steam deck now (with it's 2022 specs), and charging considerably more than the switch 2.

There's literally nothing positive about consoles when Linus in the room, he's the last man on earth I'd take advice on behalf of console gamers.

Luke is so out-of-touch if he thinks this weak sauce spec'd PC can justify a higher than PS5 price point.

"Its more versatile, you can compute on it."

Its clearly meant and marketed for the living room, not for a general PC setup.
