That is so incredibly sad.
LBP 1 and 2 being offline meant that LBP 3 was the last official way to enjoy the levels online. Now that this has had its servers taken offline and delisted, LBP is basically dead.

The first two games are some of the best games ever made imo, so many fond memories playing them with friends and family.

Expected this to happen considering they shut down the servers back in April.

Oh wow i didnt know. It was not a good game, but still. So you cant play any real little big planet games online on ps5 anymore?

Even Mm (which didn't make LBP3, btw) is saying goodbye, so it does seem to be truly ded.
I do think Sackboy 2 is on the table, especially after Astro Bot's success. I hope Sumo Sheffield is making it.

I tried playing Sackboy after getting back into Astro Bot. It's awful in comparison, so I gave up on it. Sumo has a lot of work getting it up to snuff for a sequel.

Why is everyone sad?

If you've bought the game, you can still download everything from your library...

Is this any different to not being able to purchase a disc at the store for a game that came out 10 years ago...

Unless the concern here is about gaming preservation.

Media Molecule might be the biggest casualty of not having their games on PC. Is there any doubt Dreams would have a sustainable audience there?

PLAY. CREATE. SHARE. (everyone)
PLAY. CREATE. SHARE. (new digital users)

Add it to the list of full and partial-games killed with GaaS shutdown.

What's the point of delisting when owners still can download?

I don't get it
If I were to guess, I would say that it's related to the music licensing. The deal has likely expired (or will very soon) and this prohibits them from selling new copies of the games since they'd be profiting for music they don't pay for anymore. The people who already bought it have a license, so they cannot remove it. Same situation as Forza Horizon 4 if I'm not mistaken.

My favorite Sony franchise. 3 wasn't great but it sucks to see the whole franchise wither away like this. Writing was on the wall when they took the servers down though

It is weird that they are delisting it and they haven't given an explanation. It must be due to the music? I also hope that they haven't completely given up on the IP. They need to bring it back and Mm should be the ones working on it. We need a LBP4.

Physical discs will still be purchasable.
They aren't printing more discs. So... almost the same issue.

It's just a little slower in comparison. If you keep playing you'll get use to it and the levels do get better (the earlier levels are easier).

It completely sucked after they killed the access to online creations as that was the only thing that kept the game remotely interesting. Continuing to sell it with the best part of the game missing was kind of sleazy anyway.

It still has a campaign mode that people can still play-through so all they needed to do was put a disclaimer and perhaps reduce the price (if that already hasn't been done). I don't think removing the game because the online is missing is a good decision.

Hate how LBP has been treated by Sony

LBP3 was a glitchy mess, despite years of updates, never got fixed. Nearly impossible to play together with friends without getting DC'ed, regardless of connection quality. Despite it being nearly perfect in the first two games (which were PS3 games...okay not perfect, they could get laggy, but full disconnects were rare unless your internet sucked)

But it was still LBP, it was still fun to hop on and create stuff with friends, and play community levels that thrived.

Then the servers got hacked, and Sony/Sumo promised to fix it. But left us in the dark for months. Then said "lol we lied, not gonna fix it, we're leaving the plug pulled"

I get that the network tech is ollllllllllllld and probably not fixable, but they shouldn't have lied to people.

Now it gets delisted with barely a 3 weeks notice.

In the age of live service pursuit, i've been disgusted that Sony hasn't greenlit a proper new LBP reboot with modern tech, considering LBP was the original live service game and made TONS of cash off the DLC. And it would likely be more successful today with social media engagement.

One of the most mis-managed IPs from PlayStation

There's a disclaimer on the store page and it's been 20 bucks forever. The campaign was never the selling point of LittleBigPlanet. It was always sharing creations and playing levels other people made. When that went away it killed the heart of the game.

Fair enough and if the game had the engagement numbers we probably wouldn't be having this conversation. The campaign and local play should still be reasons to keep it for sale but yeah, I know it was never the main selling point.

is the sp good ???

I have always enjoyed the campaign modes for LBP games (LBP1, 2). I haven't played through LBP3's and it wasn't because I didn't find it fun... life just had different priorities and when I got back into playing games more regularly I was playing other games. So I can't give a fair assessment. I do plan on going back and hopefully it will be just as good as the previous games but I did enjoy what I did play of the campaign mode.

The reason is definitely that Sony discovered a previously unknown exploit in LBP3 which allows you to patch Bloodborne with Lance McDonald's 60fps patch

I thought it was fun and good enough. Pretty much what 3D World is to Galaxy, but if they feel the need to improve after Astro Bot's critical acclaim, I welcome that as well.

This upsets me a lot, have fond memories of playing lbp with my nephews and nieces, we all loved these games. I hope someone makes lbp4, it's still a big seller and Media Molecule seemed to be making a lot of money through the dlc. I hoped that they would have made lbp4 in the Dreams engine, it was a massive missed opportunity imho.
