Kenshin's style in the anime was a lot more subdued than wallflips and leaps into the air. The whole point of his character was that he was quick and to the point, unlike all the other bozos he had for opponents.

lolwut

you were watching the wrong anime, i think. the trailer looks faithful enough to the tv series.

You're talking about first season Kenshin, not Kyoto Arc Kenshin.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
This, surprisingly, looks AWESOME. Not to mention that it looks like it's following the most important part of the entire story: Shishio. I'm excited!

What is this? It looks... good! Yeah, at least at first glance Sanozuke looks a bit "old" but everyone else in the casting looks great.

has there ever been a good Anime/Manga to live action movie?

I was going to say Battle Royale, but that was a book first. Most of the decent adaptations are obviously asian, like the Death Note movies and (haven't seen it) the Great Teacher Onizuka TV series was successful. The cheap chinese Dragon Ball ripoff could qualify in the "so bad it's good" category.

I liked the movie adaptation of:

Trailer for Dororo. Granted I didn't read the original manga, and aside from some cheesy CG, it was a pretty nice/cute movie.

Unless they introduce Saitou for some other reason, he pretty much is the start of Shishio. I don't think the movie will show anything post Saitou though.

Maybe he's there for flashback scenes.

Either way, I hope this movie doesn't suck and does well enough in the box office. I would love to see a live-action Shishio in a sequel.

He's wearing modern clothes and not the Shinsengumi uniform which means it's definitely not a flashback.

Looks surprisingly decent, actually.

Speed Racer!
Sakuran wasn't great, but some aspects were very good. Mostly the costume and production design and the music (Shiina Ringo <3).

Nodame Cantabile. Was a TV series, but they later did a few movies. I'd even go so far as to say it's better than the anime or Manga. And not just because of the amazing way they chose to portray the German conductor.

Did Kenshin just run over the wall and do a backflip? Goddammit.
It's not like that's impossible to do, but yes, it looks out of place.

It's like the anime, which included tons of over the top stuff.

The OVAs looked far more realistic and better IMO; they should have taken those as a reference for the movie.

Also, this looks kind of cheap and some of the characters (Kenshin included) look wrong.

Kenshin looks like a girl and fragile. Can't they find actors with more convincing physical stature? He doesn't have to be bulky since that's not how Kenshin in the manga but at least convince me that he has killer instinct and not some lameass Johnny idol to attract female fans.
