"So... This is the hand that type so much bullshit on Twitter..."

I couldn't be happier with how well Justin handled himself today. Loved how diplomatically he handled that 3rd question and he owned the handshake exchange. Could not have asked for a better showing.

I agree, I'm impressed with the class and tact that he handled everything with. I'm also happy that Trump was seemingly on his best behaviour as well so I think we were lucky in that regard

Yeah, all things considered their first meeting could not have gone more smoothly. And since when have we been able to say that about ANYTHING in Trump's presidency?

Trumps pulling in denied. You can tell he tried to go for it

Trump misses the pull, so he goes in for the hand on the arm; Another dominance move, but then Trudeau at lightning speed matches it.

I have a bunch of issues with Trudeau, especially lately, but seeing him next to Trump, damn. A bunch of world leaders must be thanking their lucky stars that they can pretty much do whatever and still come out looking good while news is focused on Trump.

I just read the youtube comments of the conference......... People saying Trump show how it's done to Trudeau when he only have 3 weeks in politics... or other people bashing Trudeau without giving any significant proof...

I wonder what world leaders are being told in how to deal with Trump.

I hope Merkel goes "Mein Barack? Where is mein Barack?" when they meet.

It's sad that these world leaders are being forced to publicly arm wrestle with Donald's teeny orange hand because he's such an insecure baby that he can't even make it through a simple greeting without trying to impotently dominate someone.

Okay, I have to get to meat and potatoes of this conference but by the gods, I have seldom been as ecstatic as Canadian who supported Trudeau- all because of that handshake. I am so unnaturally giddy every time I see that gif.

One reason why we do adore Trudeau so much up here even with some of his fuck ups and broken promises is he's so much better than when we had Harper as PM.

Our "Trump" if you well.

That was a long miserable time and I was not shy at telling people how crummy it was having him in charge and the crap he'd do, which really was similar to Bush Jr when he was president, though he began to really move towards the Trump side of things.

Harper was our Bush.
Trudeau is our Obama.

We don't have a Trump. Yet.

All I can say is Canada, I did not think I could love you and your ridiculously good-looking PM anymore than I already did.

they should work on their handshake game. Trugawd definitely practiced his counter move in the lead up to this meeting.

The closest thing we had to Trump was Rob Ford, and he ran just a city instead of a whole country.

And he didn't actually ruin the city that badly because he simply didn't show up to work much. That left people much more competent to run the city in his place.

Trump would do a whole lot less damage if he just fucked off to his room every day, surrounded himself with prostitutes and did crack until he passed out. But no, he surrounded himself with completely inept or batshit insane people who keep using presidential powers to implement insane policies.

Nah, Ford did much more damage than you realize. He absolutely destroyed what little political discourse there was with his hardline populist suburbs vs downtown routine. Politicians at all levels are still scared of angering "Ford Nation". That why both sides of the political spectrum still cling onto stupid decisions like the Scarborough Subway and the Gardiner.

The same thing will be left in Trump's wake.
