It's no secret, we're all going to pass away one day.

And yet, there will always be that desire to keep living longer.

But then I came across Prince Philip of England. I had no idea the guy was still alive but holy shit, he straight up looks like a Resident Evil Zombie at age 99.

Who knows what is going through his mind, or if his mind can even process things anymore.

So what you say GAF? Are you ready to be a centenarian?

For me? No way...if I get to 45, I'll be satisfied. I'm 32 but I've had a good life and already done a lot. If I die tomorrow...no biggie. If I live another 32...no biggie. However, if you want to know...you should ask my maternal grandmother. This flyer is over a year old (she just celebrated 101 and has no health conditions and most of her memory)...

Edit: I'm not going to share the link because some bloke says it's doxxing. Got it.

Get a load of this guy doxxing his 101 year old grandmother.

Uh, she (my grandmother had no issue) and this doesn't give out my or relatives personal data. Just thought it would be something nice to share. If not, mods can remove.

I think that is totally nice to share. Just imagine everything she has seen and experienced. I dunno maybe I just think everyone is shady. I see a name and picture and it looks like a loose string just waiting to be pulled.

I took the link out of the original post. It was originally published publicly with her consent but I don't want to violate any of GAFs policies. Sorry if the thread derailed a bit on this.

No no you're not getting it man. GAF's policies aren't my job to police. I was more projecting how I felt seeing that. To me I wouldn't want any loose threads like that. I was expressing my concern for you! I said the doxxing thing facetiously.

My Nana is 98 and outlived pretty much everyone she knows apart from direct descendants, such as myself. She's had her facilities all the time and nothing major health wise; she sleeps a lot. Every time I call or see her she is bored AF and iterates she's just waiting to pass and hopes it isn't painful. We love her dearly but there's very little quality of life even for physically and mentally sound 98 year olds. I am sure that differs for each elderly person. Sign me out when my health, social interactions and meaningful quality of life gives way. I reckon I've passed my useful half life now, still an eternal optimist though.

By the time we're 100, medical tech will be advanced enough so that we feel like we're still 40. Sign me up. Or upload me to The Matrix if that's more fun.

On the off chance that the future actually isn't like that and my quality of life is shit and I'm a drain on resources for the struggling to survive human remnant outpost, then yeah painlessly turn me into Soylent Green and feed the younglings.

We all have about 4 years to think it over... after that it won't matter.

Take care of yourselves, and have an IRA/401(k) generating compound interest so that there’s a nice nest egg waiting for you at the finish line. We have no idea what life will be like in 50+ years, but it could very well be awesome.

Mars vacations
Matrix VR
Femmebots
Space wars with lasers
Gene editing
Stem cell replacement organs
iPhone 75 Neuralink implants

Let’s stick around.

Sure. I want to see where we get to. Whether I'm meeting three boobed martians or rolling around in the Earth apocalypse with machine guns strapped to my wheel chair that I control with a straw in my mouth, it will be interesting.

Yup.

I knew peers who make decent money (6 digits) and they love to spend. Their goal in life is live for today and scrape by when they retire hoping that monthly government cheque and whatever they saved is enough. And die basically broke. One buddy even says the usual thing like you can't take the money with you and why die with a pile of cash. You earned it so use it.

While I'm a cheap fuck but still focus on building up money so I can live comfortably and give away my money to my sibling's kids as farewell bag of cash from Uncle Fun, some people are like forget it. Why give anyone anything? Fair point. It is their money. But different outlooks on life and family tree stuff.

I don't think they are expecting to live to 90 or 100. But if they do, that's going to be a long time of scraping by.

The last thing I want to be doing when I retire is waiting for government money and Senior's 10% Discount Days to get by in life.

Definitely. There’s a balance that can be struck too, living life to the fullest while also planning for the future. Everything’s a game of diminishing returns when you start splurging, anyway, and it usually isn’t worth it.

You never know what level of austerity will hit these government social security programs. I personally assume they won’t exist by the time I’m retirement age, and will treat them as a bonus if they do.

Now, in 2020, at 32 do i want to see where we are in 2100?
Wealth disparity, job security, health, housing....
A thousand times no.

Ive dealt with enough flat earthers and anti vaccers, anti maskers etc as it is. :( The future terrifies me TBH.

Upgrade your shield, strengthen your hammer, practice your swing. The world isn't scary. Realize that you don't have to adopt the problems of the entire world. Focus on your own personal sphere of influence. Help yourself first, get to a good place, then give back to the world.

I forgot to mention something: global warming.

How are we suppose to enjoy being 100 when all the ice caps are gone and air conditioning stops working? Better save up for some Space tickets and leave the planet. :messenger_confused:

Phil 'The Greek' is great. He'd personally line up the whole woke movement against a wall and shoot them...shouting out 'Bloody Commies' as he went.

Every now and then, you see some 90+ year old who is still lucid and still has a good time with life. I'd be ok with that.

But just making it to 100 and being a meat shell for a mind long lost is completely pointless.

My grandmother, who turns 96 in December, told me that she’s excited to see what’s on the other side. She is physically starting to have a hard time getting around, but her mind is still sharper than most 20 year olds that I know.
My favorite things she recently told me: I asked her some questions about the favorite times of her life and she told me, “oh to be 80 again...that was the best time of my life...”.
So, I’ve decided that I want to live until I’m just past 80.

The moment I am trapped in my body, I don't want to live further. I can see myself going strong till early 70s, but not much further.

If we are able to keep our body fit and our mind healty till very old age, I am willing to go to 100.

It depends on my QoL if that’s bad then no I don’t want to spend my final days bed ridden, in pain and senile.

Obviously everyone wants to live forever and we all have to pay the debt of life which is death maybe medical science has major breakthroughs and we all can live longer into our 100s but eventually death comes for us all.

Yeah ok, I guess at 100 there might be a few challenges.. Anyway, I'm not sure how you define the connection to how this man looks and how we handle age in general. I mean, we have both children and adults with massive severe disabilities who still have meaningful lives. Being old doesn't necessarily mean that you'll end up feeling like shit. Some are hit with more or less issues than others, and society as a whole can be very cruel towards old people, it's true. But don't forget that, despite our popular mental image of it, most elderly are quite mentally fit and love their lives. With that said, I do understand where the notion is coming from. When I was in my teens and early 20's I didn't see myself continuing alive much passed 35 years of age, lol.

But now well beyond that, true story, life is better than ever - Even with a medical history larger than even I can fathom.
Look at his eyes. Or the areas around them. They're blood red.

It makes me wonder if even going to sleep at age 100 poses a health risk, since what if you forget how to breathe or it takes more energy than usual?

A few years ago I taught a current events class where we would watch CNN 10. They interviewed a guy from Asia that was in his 120’s. The entire interview was him asking to die.

I wouldn’t mind living until 100, I just don’t want my last years to be like that.

I love life and never get depressed.
How could anyone be depressed when they’re alive with so much to do.

I want to live as long as I possibly can as long as my quality of life is to a good standard. If I’m getting pushed around in a wheelchair dribbling than euthanize me immediately.
