Logitech MX1000 mouse question

First of all i;d like to say thanks to all those who recommended me this mouse in the other thread. Its fantastic. It feels amazing. :D

But i seem to have a problem with the red light flashing. I have only just opened it and it hasnt been used much. I place it in the charger and it looks like its charging for abit and then the red light flashes. Doesnt make sense. Is it charging?

The light flashes when it's doing a full charge. It stays steady when it's doing a trickle charge. It turns off when it's fully charged.

Assuming it's the same as the MX 700 anyway. That's how mine works.

If I recall correctly, the mouse is only partially charged out of the box. You should do a full charge before using it (it takes maybe an hour or two). You know it's done when all three lights are green and not flashing (the red light will go away).

I installed the software, I think if you don't then some buttons like the application switcher will be unusable.

Put it on the charger before bed and in the morning all three green lights should be solid, make sure you seat it all the way on the charger, can't tell you how many times I've gone to pull it from the charger only to have it not seated all the way so it didn't charge.

Still red. Will wait till morning then.

on my mx700, red is low on charge, green is charging... not sure abou the 1000. sometimes for my aging mx700 you have to clean the contacts on the mouse or get them more conductive (wet)

Still red when charging. Still red when i use it. :(

Any help here? Anyone had this issue. I charged overnight.

Should show 3 bars of green when it's fully charge and you are using it. Flashing red means it's low on battery. You can check battery life by going into Logitech mouse settings (Start > All Programs), "My Mouse" tab, and then, "Battery" icon.

I've never had this problem, but it should be green when it's charging.

Did you try resetting the cradle and mouse? And make sure the cradle is plugged in :P

If it's flashing red when charging, then it's not charging at all. Don't bother leave it over night.

Do you plug the AC adaptor to the charger? Also, make sure the AC adaptor is getting power from the wall socket.

Yep. Just keeps going red after 5 seconds. It does the charge green light thing for 5 seconds then goes back red. Doesnt make sense. Adaptor is hot so that works. Something preventing the mouse from charging.

Its clearly not charging from what you guys are saying.

Will phone up Logitech. thanks for the advice.

Yeah, theres definately something wrong there. Return it and get another. Glad you like it otherwise though. It's the mouse I live by. :)

Yup phoned Logotech. Said go return it. Gonna go get the new one quickly today. I need my BF2 fix.

Yeah, I was going to say - sounds like time to return the item. Looks to be the battery won't hold a charge.

Also, to note, this is a Lithium Ion battery so it doesn't like to be discharged all the way. You can recharge whenever you like as well. Don't treat LiIons as you would Ni-Cad - in case you already didn't know.

Just and FYI, you shouldn't need to charge it out of the box. It's ready to use with full charge right away. The battery lasts a LONG time too. Out of habit though, I'll stick it in the cradle at night when I'm done using it(for the most part anyway). I've yet to see the power meter drop below 3 bars and I've had my mouse for 4 months!

I'm back. Did some life changing stuff and had some free time so i returned the mouse. New one has full bars and seems full, so i assume its ok. Very good day for me today. :)
