Alright, so I needed an extra controller for a little Halo 2 get-together this weekend. I head into my local Wal-mart, looking to blow the rest of a gift card on a Microsoft S-Type, when I spot Logitech's wireless controller for just $10 more.

"Not much more money, looks solidly constructed, and it's wireless. Teh sex!", I think as I nab it from the rack and buy it.

And that sentiment has remained mostly true, but is it just me, or do you have to jam down on the face buttons noticeably harder before they register? On the S-type, even slightly pressing the buttons seems to register, but now I have to make a conscious effort to really press the button before the corresponding action occurs.

Now I've read around, and I don't seem to be the only one noticing this. For those that own the controller, is this something you have also noticed from the transition? Do the buttons eventually "wear in" or do you just get accustom to how much harder you need to press them? I realize this may seem like a trivial thing, but it was a $40 controller, and it is my sole means of communicating with my XBox, short of the sweat nothings I whisper into controller port 1 when nobody is watching...

Is it the first or second revision. The second dropped the battery count from 4 to 2, and made changes to the ergonomics. I've got a ps2 v2 and other than the d-pad having a much larger range of movement, it works just fine.

It goes away after a few minutes (at least in ESPN2K5). It's a tiny bit of lag that pisses me off because no such lag exist with my wave bird. I only had the Gamecube for a while and had become very accustomed to wireless gaming so wired controllers just seemed archaic when I got my Xbox. Then my cat chewed right through my controller and that was that. I copped this particular controller as it has been consistently the best reviewed wireless for the Xbox. I generally like it, but the button thing is a problem I to have had.

I hade an issue with the PS2 model, v.2 - the signal sticks, for lack of a better word. When I'm playing a game, and my character is walking in any direction, the signal will keep him walking even though I'm not touching the controller. No other inputs work, and I usually die very quickly when this happens as I cannot do anything about it.

and of course the warrenty expired about 10 days after this started happening.

I've been having this issue a lot lately as well. Just when I thought this was the perfect controller too... Changing batteries doesn't help, and I'm barely 6 feet away. When I first bought it, I could practically use the thing from the Starbucks across the street!

I have two of them and only one does this.

I thought it may have had something to do with my logitech wireless keyboard (it was having signal problems too) but that fixed itself while the controller didn't.

Yes, I've noticed this, and it sucks. My friend has 2 of these wireless pads and I hate how the buttons do that. My original large size Xbox controller did this too, though it wasn't as bad. Also, the X button, and only the X button, on my 3+ year old dualshock2 finally started doing this, so I just bought another for Tekken.

I press gamepad buttons down until they start putting up any sort of serious resistance. When a button requires you to press slightly harder than that to get a signal to register, that's incredibly annoying.

Yes, the Logitech controller does hav an issue with buttons like you stated. I returned mine and got another Controller S instead.

I love my PS2 ver. 2, with only one (albiet major) complaint: the Square button constantly sticks. This wasn't an issue when I first got the controller; that all changed, however, when I bought DMC3. In order to fire any of your guns, particularly the dual pistols, you have to jam down on the Square button as quickly as possible. With Square getting stuck for half a second every three presses or so, using my guns at all can get extremely frustrating. It's also caused me some problems in Tekken 5. I've experienced the same issue with my friend's controller, so I know it's nothing related to any foreign substances that could be impeding the movement of the button. I'll probably give Logitech a call tommorow and see if I can get it repaired or replaced.

Essentially I just can't use the thing for anything other than RPG's and such. Had to go back to the wire for DMC3/God of War myself, the Logitech was really messin up my game when I used it.

Damn, that sucks, because I love the quality of the controller's design and its layout is less cramped than the S-type, while not being the dinner plate that the Duke is to hold. I'm tempted to say I could get use to jamming the buttons harder, but it may just wind up annoying me...

I had it for a good two months. After a while, i started to see why this controller pales in comparison to the S type. Buttons, triggers, dpad, and imo the shape isn't what it could be (it's slightly more uncomfortable to reach for the shoulder buttons).

My PS2 wireless is excellent, no problems.
The xbox wireless has craptastic buttons just like yours. Never broke in, never got better. Kind of a shame, given how nice the PS2 model is.

the X is sticking in each controller, I just figured it was from sticky fingers or whatnot. didn't know it was the controller itself.

Please shrink/change the receiver, Logitech! It won't play nice with the PSTwo.
