Lords of The Fallen 2 Releases 2026

So, can someone explain this series to me? Apparently the first game released like 10 years ago but was a kind of meh soulslike, but then it got a re-release (with the same name) recently?

Also apparently the woke losers are still crying because they removed "body type A/B" from it which makes it more interesting.

Still too woke for me

The first game was in 2013 , it was interesting but not as grim dark as the newer one. The newer one is a semi sequel / reboot, and this is a sequel to that reboot

Yes, the first one was one of the earliest to try their hand at Souls likes. The recent one was a reboot but also a sequel. Kinda. The devs leaned into the "anti woke" angle pissing off who you'd expect. But those people already didnt like them for other stuff (cant keep up with who has offended who or for why) so it's whatever.

the original was a very generic and early souls-like.
the new one is a completely different game, still a souls-like but with a completely different twist to it than the first game.

the gimmick in first game was that the left behind souls would heal you if you're near them, so you either collected them to be save, or played around them to gain a buff.
the gimmick of the second game is that there are 2 realities, if you die you go into the spectral realm essentially. basically the same concept that's also used in Soul Reaver, even with the same "water doesn't exist in the spectral realm" thing. you can also swap between realms similar to Soul Reaver, and you have to solve small "puzzles" by using your lantern to look into the other world and switching between them, as there are small differences in each world meaning switching between them opens new ways and stuff

they essentially just reused the name, it might as well be just a different IP.
both are souls-likes but they don't really share any other elements besides that.

It wasn't even an "anti-woke" angle. It was simply common sense and a return to normalcy. Imagine that some women have larger breasts than a freakin' B cup. Shocking!

There are also some blog posts, I think this one is the most interesting:
Blood isn't just a visual effect. It's a language in Lords of the Fallen II.

A story. A core mechanic. And according to the dev team, it's about to be rewritten, with more volume, more variety, and more purpose than ever before.

Game Director James Lowe has confirmed what fans have anticipated: this will be the most R-rated entry in the franchise. That means not only more gore, but a blood rework that changes how violence feels and looks. Players can expect to see blood in different places, in different forms, and in different states, from visceral arterial sprays to complete environments that seem to breathe with a life of their own.

"The team constantly pushes me to peel back new layers of brutality", Lowe explained."For me, it all comes down to one word: visceral - brutality isn't a clean decapitation, it's the moment your blade hits bone and doesn't go through. You have to force it. You feel the resistance and then you earn the decapitation. That's where we play".

An M-Rating as a Creative Mandate

The goal isn't shock value; it's immersion. The team wants you to read the battlefield the way you'd read the environment in the real world. Is the blood fresh? Is it dried and darkened? Was it spilled in one blow, or over a long, painful death? Every drop tells a story and those stories are meant to unsettle you. The game's R-rating isn't just a label; it's a creative mandate. Encounters are designed to be exhausting, violent affairs where survival is never guaranteed. Enemies don't just die… they resist, they bleed, they force you to fight for every inch. And with the sequel's improved combat systems and expanded Umbral realm, expect that brutality to be woven into every mechanic.

The Art Direction of Aftermath

This philosophy bleeds (pun intended) into the art direction as well. Locations aren't just grim, they're forensic crime scenes of battles past. Umbrail's new layers will challenge players to think not just about how to win, but what it will cost. Every hard decision carries weight. The risk, the reward, and the consequences alone are brutal.

The message is clear: Lords of the Fallen II is not here to make you comfortable. It's here to push the genre into bloodier territory than it's ever dared go before. And for those ready to embrace the struggle, the reward will be as satisfying as it is disturbing.

A lot of flowery language, but if they actually nail what I suppose they're going for, it could be interesting.

They do keep getting better with their games I'll give them that. And if this promises to be more gory and violent and whatnot I'm all in for good feedback in a game like this with crazy graphics. I hope they're a significant leap from their last game which already looked great.
