Losing internet access in a weird way

It's been weird lately. I've been leaving my computer on lately and when I come back, I'll have difficulty opening up any site. Whether I leave it on for torrents or just cuz I need a break, when I come back, I cannot open any sites.

I open Firefox and it tells me it can't reach any of the sites. I can log onto my router, my torrents are still active or what have you but I cannot open the sites. Then all of a sudden, I can open GA and it gets the rest of the sites 'unlocked' in a way. Or like now, I cannot open a new site in a different tab but I can open it in the primary tab and that's it. And I can't use IE except to open up GA. ESPN, CNN, anything else: nope, no access.

Usually rebooting solves the problem, but at times, it won't. Rebooting will still present the same problem. I won't be able to log onto sites, but I can get onto the router. That just let's me know that it's not the connection to the router.

What does worry me is that my mom just set her computer up for her business. She set a website up on her computer and we are on the same router. She had some guy and set it up. He set her up for remote desktop, FTP and HTTP Server under the virtual servers in our router. It seems like everything went a lil wacky after that. And I really can't do much to that cuz it's her business.

I worry that people could be hacking into her computer or whatever, creating havoc on our router. Hell, they could probably be hacking into my computer from her. It's just that it's retarded how I cannot get access at times and the weird ways I can get access (GA only). Now I can't open ESPN, slickdeals. I'm confused.

Yeah, I have Comcast and today in particular(other than the big malfunction thing a few days ago), I have had trouble getting on to any site at times, but am able to at other times.

It's annoying but it seems that Internet Explorer works sometimes, but Firefox doesn't.

Comcast here but I havent had any issues since they last said they fixed it 2 days ago. Be sure and a release/renew and it should come up with local dns servers their using now. Mine came up at 204.127.198.19 instead of the 63.xxx.xx.xx dns servers.

I just set up my new account with Comcast today and can't use Bittorrent at all. I can't connect to any trackers whatsoever and I've tried everything I could think of. Anyone have any advice or info?

Edit: Weird, fixed it by downloading my BT client again. Oh well, disregard post.
