Well.. WOW, wtf is happening in the next episode. At first I didn't know who hit Sayeed, but it must have been Sawyer? Geez, next weeks' episode looks like crazy action

It's REALLY hard not to like an episode of Lost, unless you're Wilco. My reasoning? Every episode gives us a great glimpse into one character...and there is nothing negative about that. This episode had some action, some big character building for Charlie, some definite seeds of dissension with Sayed getting knocked out cold...knocked out cold! Sheesh...Sawyer better get his next week. One has to wonder...why does he want to keep them on the island? Or, if it wasn't him, why does someone want to do so?

And Kate's comment about him having no one...Sawyer, right before he went into the jungle with Kate and Co. in the second half of the pilot, was reading some sort of letter...and then suddenly volunteered. That letter has to have something to do with his behavior.

Good Episode.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Sawyer's background story.

But, how could he knock out Sayid? Assuming he set off the flair, he would have been 2km away.

Yeah, hmm. Not really sure. It kinda sucks they showed Saayed in the preview. It was kind of a cliffhanger not knowing what happened to him.

I mean we still dont' know what happened, but he is obviously ok in the next episode.

The more I watch the show, the more I love it. It and the neo-Enterprise are the only 2 shows that I watch on TV (outside of stuff on Adult swim before I go to sleep - but those are mostly reruns so I don't count them).

I was a bit put off by the whole 'cave in' thing. It just seemed so predictable. And the way it was shot? CHEESY! That being said, there was so much else that was just wonderful in this episode that I can overlook the crutch of the cave in. It set up a nice dynamic for all the characters and in the end the character development that came out of it was worth the use of the old standard. (Which in general I don't mind.. but it was just how every shot from the cave in was something you had seen about a thousand times before. That and how Michael just kind of walked up and was like "I'm architect!" and could annalyze the wall structer.)

(Which I guess could be possible.)

(Why am I still typing like this??)

(HELP ME I AM TRAPPED IN MY OWN CAGE!)

Forgot to mention the brilliance of the Steve(I think) and Scott banter early in the episode. It's like a shoutout to everyone thinking "Who are all these people?", to know that even the people on the island itself don't know everyone.

Loved the bait and switch on the flares. Kate left her flare in Sawyer's hands...and it went off. Boone left his with SHANNON...and she still managed to launch it. They were simply red herrings for the "Sayed gets knocked out" eventual ending of the chance of the signal working.

So how was this one? I missed it tonight, and am wondering if its worth seeing via *ahem* other means.

I had seen 3 out of the 6 episodes up to this point via the "other" method. This episode was very solid. It was definately a character builder, learning more about some people.. and as you've probably read in the thread. A few people come through when not expected ( I guess? )

At any rate, the flash preview for next week looks like it's going to go from learning about people to OMG slam bam boom! It seems like next week is gonna take some big turns.

Episode was shit. A complete filler episode.

Only thing that I found remotely entertaining was the moth/cocoon story.

Next episode looks sweet. A word of warning I've heard Eonline like to give out spoilers like thier going out of style like TV guide and the small
Polar Bear:Comic book
spolier hint.

I checked a fan site about what the next few episodes are about...the next 2 sound really cool

Some things I noticed:

Where was Claire (the pregnant woman)?

Sawyer was again reading "Watership Down".

This episode proves some people's watches are indeed working.
(There was a theory floating around that everyone's watches had stopped)

Also, if you have a Tivo avoid reading the episode description! The last few have been very overly spoiler-ish. :p

I want to like this one, if only because Paul Dini wrote it and I love most of the animation stuff he's written. That said, I thought a lot of the dialogue was really weak. A couple of Kate's early lines were particularly awkward along with Hurley's little exchange with Charlie about how he looked ill. The discussion between Sayid and Kate about the crash was also pretty unnatural. Or maybe the actors just botched a bunch of lines tonight, but I really thought the dialogue was a step down from past episodes.

I guess it'll be interesting to see what happens with Sayid, but I have a feeling he'll just wake up and have no idea what happened and no clues.

Claire disappeared for two straight episodes and she's the needy pregnant woman.

And seriously, are the only people living in the caves the main characters? Are there only five or six people there so far? And what happened to those other two guys who volunteered to help dig? They seemed to disappear later too.

I was a bit disappointed. There needed to be at least one more little hint about the island, or anything. As it is, we had Sayid get knocked out and a setup for them possibly finding the energy source, but there were no real tantalizing mysteries.

The whole

"Hey Scott!"
-"I'm Steve, that's Scott"
"Whatever, grab a couple guys and come on!"

thing when they were getting people to help dig was pretty funny though.

Yeah, it was. But it still stood to point out how the show isn't showing the scale of the situation. There are what, 46 people now and they supposedly split up yet as far as I can tell it's basically 7 people in the caves and I'm left to assume the other 39 are on the beach.

I'm also not liking how we've seen so little of the caves. They haven't established that as a setting very well. And what'd they do with the corpses anyhow? Are they still just resting there?

This was the weakest episode by far. In fact, I'd say Charlie's backstory was barely removed from an after school special. The trite cocoon metaphor did nothing for me.

Red Murcury touched on what I liked about this episode, but I can't help but feel it was overshadowed by the thinning budget. Which goes right into what Dan mentioned. The sense of scale just isn't there anymore.

I'm sure now that they've picked up the series, and gotten a healthy flow of cash(the first allotment obviously burned on the pilot opener), they'll do a better job representing the camp and introducing more action to the series.

I agree, the whole cave thing was stupid IMO, I would like to see a little more mysterious puzzle solving.

Also they dug out the tunnel to rescue Jack and it went all the way to the other side of the cave but then they are like "Who is going in? Its so small!". Well weren't they in there digging the damn tunnel?

I like the show but some things are just stupid and its moving a little bit to slow.

I agree that it was the wekest episode of the series, yet still better than 99% of what else is on TV.

the charlie story to me was actually interesting.. whoever said after school special. screw that.. to me it seems like a bunch of shit that his brother essentially fucks up his entire life, quits the band, and then tells him to pull his shit together.. if I were charlie I would have beat the shit out of my brother..

the rest of the episode was ok, but yeah.. the wekest of the series. I still haven't lost faith though.. still overall pretty decent.

Weak episode, but I liked the interaction between Kate and evil redneck guy. And I want to know who hit Iraqi dude over the head.

I thought it was a shoutout to me since thats my full name...... :D

Overall this episode did seem kinda corny. And what happened to the black lady and the prego. maybe one of them hit Sayid.

People....

The person that hit Sayid over the head was:

Locke.

However, my girlfriend did mention that it COULD be Jack's father, since he wasn't in his casket.

Why would you say it was... oh I see
Locke, wants to stay on the Island because he thinks its this great wonderful place that can fulfill your dreams?

Also, he has seen the 'Monster'. It's been a while since that has made it back into the storyline

StoOgE

First tragedy, then farce.
It has to have been
Locke, he was the only main charachter not accounted for, he didnt return to the caves until later that night. Everyone else was shown. Unless someone else set off the evil rednecks flair and turned on the antenna... or they are going to bring in a new charachter.

Edit: :lol I guess I should be carefull Im using the spoiler tag and not the bold tag when posting spoilers.

I think they won't tell who hit Sayed.

I have a new(its new to me anyway) theory:

They are in some kind of clinic, they are hooked up to some fake reality machine, something like Vanilla Sky(I think it was Vanilla Sky, not sure). They all went their to find their purpose in life cause they felt "LOST". Some characters don't really exist(the girl who drowned and the pilot). All the characters stories seem to end in a bad/sad way.

Man, if this is some Vanilla Sky ripoff, I will shoot my television. Seriously.

... IT WAS ALL A DREA- [BANG!]

New plan.

I think it was the French woman from the signal who hit Sayid. Think about it. She hasn't seen someone in years and randomly sees an Arab guy strolling through the jungle. WHAM! Sayid = owned.

Plus, they would move the story forward with adding new characters and plot development by introducing the location/person from the signal.

Yes, LOST wants us to think it was Locke, but I change my mind and think it's now the French woman from the signal/message.

Plus....

I think Kate has a multiple personality disorder. Kate seems nice and sweet...and so perfect she's completely annoying! But, she's a dangerous criminal who owned an old man. She seems to want off the island, yet if she gets off she's going to jail...what explains this is the MPD.

What brought me to this decision is a conversation she had with Claire. Claire asked her if she was a gemini, and Kate said yeah. Gemini is the twin sign....

That French woman is dead. C'mon, a woman surviving by herself with no men? I don't think so.

Very fucking cool.

Whatever happened to that portly woman of African descent who thinks her husband is still alive? Her and the pregnant woman seem to be the only ones not accounted for (out of the main characters) when Sayid was beaned on the noggin.

BIG spoiler. only if you dare

I think it was the french woman who hit Sayid just due to the fact that i've seen the casting calls for the show and a french actress was called for

red herring? perhaps, but still

Ghost

Chili Con Carnage!
wouldnt they have needed a french actress for the recorded message though?

I liked this ep, is it me or is Charlie Noel Gallagher (Oasis) with a few details changed? I definitely got a big oasis vibe from his back story.

So Sayid is in the next ep with Jack....that means 1) He wakes up and has no idea who hit him 2) he finds out who hit him

Shit that was stupid. It's almost 4 and I'm saying obvious stuff.

Ghost

Chili Con Carnage!
why would a gorrilla use a branch to knock someone out?

:lol HEY!

Maybe it was like a Ent or something.
