Lost Odyssey is 2007, guys

Sakaguchi and Toriyama on a single project? You can't go wrong there. Hell, they might as well grab Yuji Horii in there, and rename it Chrono Trigger 2. ;)
A Chrono Trigger 2 would also require at least Kato, Mitsuda, and Kitase to go along with them.

I see. So what is Mistwalker's involvement then? I thought they were publishing it?

And I think the other dev is Feel Plus.
Kinda like Q, they look over the game, and contribute in certain areas.

Well, "preorder" I can understand, maybe, but you said you "have them paid off" which means something entirely different. You didn't actually give EB fifty dollars up front, did you?

No, I gave it to Gamestop :D

Icebeezy, you are ALWAYS saying how you have this game paid off, and that game paid off... every thread you discuss upcoming games in, you say you have them all paid off.

Thank you for the reminder that you have them paid off. Now stop already!

Maybe you don't know you are doing it so often, but here's a link I think sums it up pretty well.

Eh. It's that I hate being portrayed as a hypocrite of some sort. Amirox thought I was a certain way towards JRPGs. To an extent, I am It would be highly hypocritical to get the 360 versions of a genre and not the PS2 versions of that genre. I love my 360, but it's not that serious. However, since bullshit can be easily spewed on the internet, the easiest way to prove you are what you say you are, is with a pic or whatever. It's not that I'm throwing it in peep's face, but if called out on it, I'll prove you wrong. That's all.

Far be it for me to tell somebody else what to do with their money, but...

...no, I think I should really tell you what to do with your money. Because paying off games that aren't going to be out for like two years is batshit insane.

Well, gaming is generally my only hobby. My self indulgence, so to speak. I just like to have it over and done with.

People say it reminds them of SNES version of Square, which is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> to the PSX+PS2 version of Square.

Who are "people"? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that's not an assessment anyone can make atm, unless they played the game for an extended period of time. Is it in the condition for that yet? Also especially since Mistwalker isn't Square, and it's getting farmed out to like fifteen shitty devs.

Not that it matters, just saying man. I find your double standards amusing! I have plenty myself, but you're totally not getting on me for them so I can get away with it.

Or maybe they're not double standards, but a product of something larger! Because I mean you pre-ordered KHII and FFXII and everything, but still think the battle system is shit in FFXII or something so I think you're addicted to just pre-ordering shit!

Nonetheless, I have Kingdom Hearts 2 paid off and Final Fantasy 12 paid off, as well as the 3 RPGs for the 360 from Mistwalker. I'll still shit on the FF12 fight mechanics if they still suck. However, nobody tells a story like Square. Since the RPG genre is still my favorite, I still buy them.

I'm shocked. Tell us also about how you have 50 more 360 games pre-ordered.

There aren't any double standards as far as I'm concerned. I'm still giving Square my money, why does it matter? I still do think they tell the best stories in gaming. Hence the reason I am getting FF12. A game can still have glaring faults and still be purchased. Almost all games have them. However, a battle system is integral to an RPG.

I'm shocked. Tell us also about how you have 50 more 360 games pre-ordered.

No need, just look at a recent release date schedule and come to your own conclusions. I come no where near to acting pretentious about my purchasing habits. Nor do I post in some threads I have a game preordered for. I don't start threads saying, holy fuck!?!?! I preordered 20 games today!!!!! Icebeezy rox total!!!!! My posting, of what I've preordered goes with the flow of the thread. We just recently had a thread that said, Dear March: Fuck You. It concerns the amount of games people are getting within next month's time. There are people who are getting *gasp* more games than me.

People say it reminds them of SNES version of Square, which is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> to the PSX+PS2 version of Square.

I would say more like:

SNES version of Square >>> PSX >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PS2!

More accurate to me! :D

You can't fool me. I bet you're gonna go back to look at your pre-order list and touch yourself.

Ok, it's gigadent-style put up or shut up time, I want to see scans for receipts for the following games:

Kngdom Hearts 2 is 4-22-05
Lost Odyssey is 7-1-05
Cry On + Blue Dragon is 12-26-05
Final Fantasy 12 was done 2-3-06

Clock is ticking....

Pre-ordered and pre-PAID are different things. I think that's the crux of the entire debate now. :D

Agent Icebeezy is about as multiplatform as Gahiggidy. He buys games for other systems, but he's a MICROSOFT WHORE at heart. Even he'll admit that. Just cause you own and play games on any systems doesn't mean you don't have double standards.

I hope he comes through with the receipts scans.

At least Speevy is banned, yay!

I have no doubt he'll come through, or that at least Icebeezy will run to the store today and do it just for this occassion. Agent Icebeezy is crazy, yo.

That won't cut it, he provided the dates for the receipts already, and a dodgy photoshop won't save him here :P

Any chance of these games coming to PS3?

I always thought they would be the killer-apps in Japan and thought Mistwalker would port them if they didn't sell as well as they hoped on one console.

I'm pretty sure the stipulation is that it's just for 360.

aka 'buy a 360!'

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are financed by Microsoft, so there is not a chance they will ever be released on anything but a Microsoft console.
Cry On could be released on PS3 I guess since it's a AQI published game.

Yeah of course, but this won't happen unless Microsoft simply quits the japanese market.

One could make a compelling argument that this has already happened... ;)

I keed, I keed. These are the big guns for Microsoft there. If they fail, 360 fails in territory Japan.

Blimblim said:

Blim, stupid question (not a wish!) - what if those games severly underperform? For example Blue Dragoon is projected to sell 300K copies and it sells only 100K.

Couldn't Mistwalker persuade MS *then* (and only then - after the sales disappointment) to let them publish it on PS3?

Yup, N3 will be the first test for MS, then Blue Dragon. If both get good scores in the japanese magazines and still can't move a few tens of thousands of 360, then it's it's game over. Being the pessimist guy I am, I'd say it's likely this is what will happen.
Borys: Not a chance! MS pays for *every* expense and owns the whole game, art assets and most likely even the code. That's usually how it works, maybe it's different in Japan but I doubt it. So unless Mistwalker actually buys back everything, BD on PS3 is simply impossible.

Deadly Monk said:

Even if the games all horrendously underperform, I wouldn't bet on seeing any of 'em on the PS3, even Cry-On. BD and LO are MS funded and published, and since MS will of course never publish it themselves on the PS3, the only way they'd hit the system is if MS sells the license and rights to another publisher. Problem is, considering the games won't exactly light up Japanese sales charts (and that's being optimistic), I can't see any publisher forking over the amount of dough MS would demand to both make up for losses and make up for the loss of exclusivity. MS would simply ask for too much, and rightfully so.

Cry-On would be AQI's decision, but I could MS forking up some dough to keep it exclusive regardless of performance. And even if Cry-On does hit the PS3, it won't be til at least 6-12 months after the 360 release; aka. a long while from now.

And BD selling 300k (unless that's a WW figure) seems ridiculously out of reach, especially if it hits Japan within the next 8-10 months. It would have to more than double the entire installed base of the 360 alone, and sell to 100% of it's owners.

I was thinking Japan sales only. I don't think that's unreasonable - if FF or DQ can sell 4M in one month why can't a very similiar, next-gen jRPG sell 300K in few months? It will be out before next-gen FF and next-gen DQ.

And that's coming from someone as anti-Xbox as it gets.

300K in a non hostile market would certainly be doable with a big game with big names like Blue Dragon. But Japan is most definitely hostile to the Xbox brand now, most of this hostility is of course Microsoft's own fault, with all the stupid stuff they have done over the years there.

I don't mean to say that 300k is completely out of the question, especially if the game is good, I just mean that if one were to take all the facts we have today, that outcome seems rather farfetched.

The system has sold ~93k units so far, and if it continues at the pace it's going now, it'll do about 4-5k per month. N3 could definitely cause a spike when it releases, but I don't think there's much else coming this year in Japan that is expected to generate system sales. And even if N3 pushes an extra 40k systems on top of the above monthly total (which is rather optimistic), that's only about 180-190k 360's sold by the end of the year.

Not saying it can't happen, but selling to 100% of existing owners plus another 110-120k new ones would be pretty damn remarkable. Of course, if more 360's sell during the year for whatever reason, all the above will mean shit. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Well, you also have to count that these 300.000 sales would not be on day one. In the long run (if there is any long run for 360 in Japan) it could get a nice sales boost when other big titles are released, like Lost Odyssey or Cry On.

LOL, just noticed the tag.

Kingdom Hearts and Lost Odessey reciepts are shitty to look at with the ink. They are faded. I'll be back though once I figure out what I need to do to get them to show properly. Maybe sit on the scanner while scanning or something. :lol Like I said, I'll be back

he should just write it down on a paper before he comes for them. Make their job easier. He basically goes back every week with a new bag full of games to pre-order so I'm sure they know the drill.

I don't see why people expect Cry On to be good. Drakengard was shit, and from the time I've spent with Drakengard 2, it's just the same shit with a better graphical engine and a worse story.

Maybe because those shits aren't writing the story or designing the gameplay. Just making the engine. :D

Sure, Cavia ain't at the top of their game. Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are also not being made by the most competent dev teams, with some direction from Mistwalker. But I doubt Microsoft would emphasize the projects, as important as they are, without some confidence in quality. If the games suck, it's just going to hurt the brand more... and I doubt they want that.

Of course, that's not much of an indication that it will actually live up to expectations... but the concept for CryOn is fucking amazing, and if they can pull it off with any remote level of quality they're gonna have something special on hand imo. So, I don't expect Cry On to be good. I hope Cry On is gonna be good, because the concept certainly screams potential.

Agent I would photoshop the ticket numbers someone could use that ticket against you not that anyone here would do that. :)

Er... you're joking right? Seiken 3's "auto-combat" is basically what ruined the game, and made it by a wide margin the worst SD game ever. Even the buggy Secret of Evermore's better than that clusterfuck. You can literally complete SD3 by tapping a single button in battles for the duration of the game.

Besides, everyone knows SD1 is the best of the bunch (Zelda clones >>>>> other ARPGs). The GB original, not the assy GBA remake. :)
