Lost Odyssey render

Didn't see it before, apparently it's from demo/movie (or trial version with movie sequences?) that might be ready around E3 if I'm reading right.

OMG! So that first concept art that Mistwalker revealed was Lost Odyssey, so does this mean they are actually developing this game by them-selves? I'm very interested in this now, I hope it arrives before the end of 2007 though, I know Blue Dragon and probably ASH are coming first.

Man, and I thought the art for Kaim strayed away from the typical androgynous FF male lead.

Looks great aside from that.

Edit: Seems from the Google translation of that website that the CG opening is now finished and a demo will be released after E3.

Does anybody else think that kinda looks like the Shadow of the Colossus on fire? Just need to put some legs on that bridge leading to the temple-like structure :P

Hmm.... I read Amano was with Mistwalker, but he's not doing either game (Toriyama is doing Blue Dragon.) Maybe the next game?

And it has something to do with Cavia (sp?).
Hmm... it seems to have a link to Artoon on the site too... maybe Cavia is working with them on Lost Odyssey like Artoon is working with them in Blue Dragon?

"Feel Plus" is essentially a renamed, and slightly restructured, "Scarab Inc." It's a Cavia subsidiary (hence the connection), and the company has previously worked on "Dinosaur Hunting" for XBox, and a soccer title for PS2 whose name I can't read.

Mistwalker isn't developing anything. They're not set up to develop games themselves, because Sakaguchi doesn't want to run a development studio.

feel+ is descended from Scarab as a business entity but its development staff is mostly new (with a lot of ex-Square Enix staff added).

It's from the opening movie (which is being directed by Katsuyuki Motohiro, director of Bayside Shakedown). The projected demo (which Sakaguchi hopes to put out "after E3, but before the weather gets too hot") is supposed to start with this movie and run until the main titles/opening credits, (which aren't shown until a little ways into the game) with gameplay in between.

Has this ever been confirmed, because I've only ever seen this claim here on GAF. I was under the impression that FeelPlus is essentially just Scarab renamed, with a few extra people from various Amuse Capital departments.

Looking at their official site, feel+ has over twice as many people as Scarab did a couple years ago (133 vs. 60). Sakaguchi also mentioned in a Japanese interview that around 10-20 ex-Square Enix people are working on Lost Odyssey at feel+, but don't ask me to find it again. The directors are ex-Square and Sony planners.

Amano is not and has never been "with" any game company, his game work has always been done on a contract basis. He and Sakaguchi have talked about collaborating on a future game project, but they don't have any definite plans.

i'm really excited about this game. the way they describe the story, visuals, & gameplay makes me think it's going to be epic.

Sakaguchi took the stage at the press conference and shared a bit on Lost Odyssey's background story. You play as Kaim, a man who's been sentenced to live for 1,000 years. The game's storyline takes you through Kaim's life as he lives through multiple generations, becomes a part of many families, falls in and out of love and gets into conflicts. All this is set in a world that is on the verge of a "mystical industrial revolution," where mankind has attained dark powers.

Lost Odyssey has some experimental qualities to it, with Sakaguchi revealing that he's trying a number of new things due to the length of the main character's life. The game world is said to look alive, which would suggest that Mistwalker is trying to truly put you in the shoes of Kaim as he lives his lengthy life. The game's storyline, according to Sakaguchi, focuses on the day-to-day events of Kaim's life. On a strictly speculative note, this could indicate that Lost Odyssey will avoid the cliche good versus evil theme that's used as the background story for most Japanese RPGs.

Uhh, are we looking at the same page? FeelPlus' official page shows a staff of only 75 as of this past May. Here's the direct text copied over:

従業員数 75名(2005年5月1日現在)

And here's the direct link to the page:
