So many people have recommended this show to me, it’s dystopian future, the fascination with the virus that made the planet blind and all the stars we discover around the #1 guy Jason Moma (Boba Voss).

See Jason Momoa GIF by Apple TV+

I have watched this show one episode a day at a time. The way they blind people in the show talk to each other is interesting, coordinating life without sight is exciting to watch.

There’s several reasons why I decided to pick this show to watch.

I like the show. Period.

IIRC my main issue with the show, in the first few eps I watched, was the preposterous idea that the very concept of "vision" was taboo. Like, what did these folks think eyes were good for when they could experiment with their horses and dogs to realize that when it is hot (I.e. sun is up) these animals, also with jlelly filled balls in their head, could suddenly navigate very well and react to things far away. Or if you covered said jelly filled balls the horse suddenly didn't move well.

Anyway, the conceit of the show didn't seem matched to the narrative thrust of it, the internal consistency wasn't there for me.

All I've seen is advertisements for this show where a bunch of blind people are charging at each other on a battlefield, blind people, and fighting with melee weapons.

It seems incredibly stupid.

It's dumb but it's original at least. It helps if you have a good sound setup.

Exactly I could never get over the premise. It seems so bad.

Pretty much anything TV Mamoa has done has sucked imo.

It's a great, underrated show with interesting lore, world building, fights, and character arcs.

I've heard opinions like these about 'See' before. I still wonder, if this were an anime or some crazy video game concept, would people still have these sort of first impressions? Does the live action part of this concept make it appear bad from an outside perspective?

Probably not. There is just a line of being able to suspend disbelief.

There is always a population of people that can and can’t get into a show. Like Quiet or Birdbox. Those imo sucked. Too many holes. I can’t imagine the premise in a series.

In the show is their ability to navigate 3D space and survive based solely on their senses or can they actually “see” in other ways like magic/force? If it’s a more realistic world I just can’t buy it and that is my impression.

It's kind of a mixture(more fantastical than something like Vikings), but the whole premise is that they cannot see with their eyes at all. Some of the ways they handle navigation, medical needs, food, combat, are pretty creative for the world building/lore of the show and it's seen as a semi-grounded fantasy because there are characters who are capable of near-superhuman feats depending on how they take advantage of the loss of sight(for example finding a way around not touching the ground).

The different tribes, what they train for the most, and which senses they rely the most on at times, reminds me of Avatar: TLA(especially the scenes with Toph interacting with other types of clans). Not saying it matches up to the A+ quality of that show, but it has it's own interesting story arcs and moments that I think are worth checking out.

Sometimes I still think this show would have come across way better publicly if it were animated.
