It is a very fun game, no doubt... but a little bit overrated for my taste :-( I finished a full run, saw that this is everything this game would offer [i could be wrong, of course] and uninstalled it - hate when everything you 'buy' is thrown away for the next run (same reason i cannot stand Returnal, for exampe)

I mean its a rogue like, its kinda part of it

I like it, its a nice wind down game imo

Great game. Super addicting until it's suddenly not.

One you will want to go back to every once and while and maybe get addicted again.

I was looking forward to this when it launched on Apple and thought it was the stupidest shit ever. I played it for like an hour and deleted it.

All these rogueshit games are dumb and it being a goty type game in all the publications last year was embarassing.

Easy one of my top 5 most played games last year. Serious contender for my personal GOTY as well.

Shame you didn't get it.

Great game. Perfect on the phone as well.
Controls better on phone, the fact you can't play with touchscreen only on Steam Deck is a travesty.

The phone version kept me alive during a particularly brutal series of layovers recently.

Don't leave home without it.

I really wanted to get fully absorbed in this game the way I did with Slay the Spire (which I absolutely love). I played it for about two weeks upon release, enjoyed it, but then didn't play it again. My problem was that certain tactics seemed to be much more effective--due to the nature of the game, Flushes seemed to easily be the strongest, most consistent thing to go for. And then some points got weirdly "grindy," such as builds that encourage you to keep using zodiac cards to get stronger.

Anyway, I don't begrudge people for falling in love with Balatro but it didn't blow me away. I still got my money's worth but for my tastes, I'm a bigger fan of stuff like Dicey Dungeons and Wildfrost for deckbuilding Spire-likes.

I travel loads for work and the game is a god send. Generally I don't play phone games but this one is different.

Yeah, it's a great game. I sunk 40 hours into it back in January.

John Romero was gushing over it in an interview a few months ago. Wonders when someone will "Balatro" something else people know and love, like Monopoly.

This was the perfect Switch game while traveling.

I wish the trophy list on PSN was more reasonable. I'd go for it, but it looks like it would make me despise the game by the end.

Cool game, but I twice had a run where I could effortlessly get like 1.5 mil a hand (one of the runs if I played literally any pair I got 1.8 mil) and even that wasn't remotely enough to go deep past the 8th round or whatever. Meaning either I was fundamentally missing something with the mechanics and it would require a ton of reading up (sucking the fun out of it), or it was purely luck related which is even less fun. Or I needed to grind out more cards which is even less fun.

Played it for 175h, unlocked almost all the cards and felt like I had my fill.
If they make new content to unlock I'll likely fall off the wagon again.

I got a 100% save file on Switch after 300 hours. Absolutely loved it and will do it again on Steam once I get my fill of some of the mods.

Haven't tried it myself yet, but seen as I got 3 months of Apple Arcade from Currys when buying a Pro the other week, maybe I'll try this & Vampire Survivors

GOTY of last year as far as i'm concerned. Grab the Android version to play on the go, the touch controls make it as good as the PC version. The game made a long haul flight to Japan just go by in an instant.

I did 2 runs with the red deck and unlocked the blue deck. Beat the game first run using blue deck. Uninstalled.10/10 Goty

Looking forward to the update when it comes later this year. At that point I know it is going to pull me straight back in.

I played a few runs, managed to beat it, haven't played it since. Seems like a decent game and there's probably a lot of depth to it but it's not for me.

People that like what's popular. I believe it was Alex from Nintendo Life who started this Balatro fuckery.
That's not Hipster you crack head! Hipster is the opposite, the obnoxious alternative ones, e.g. oh you like pepperoni pizza? Well I like arugula on sourdough with a splash of olive oil.

The "ironic" anti-mainstream.

You cant finish a full run and say youve seen it.... because unlocking all the decks and stripes and all the joker combos etc is the point of the game basically. Yes you saw the gameplay but it gets considerably different and harder and more interesting the more you unlock and the more "conditions" are placed - factor in randomization and its very addictive. One thing I use the game for is at the gym on the bike.... I have a microsoft surface and I want to say its one of the most touch friendly games on PC. I also play it on the phone, the PC version plus touch in my opinion is actually BETTER than the touch phone version just feels fantastic but that said Ive played even more on the phone just for availability's sake. Its def a game you will be happy to write off if you dont know any better but for addictiveness its EASILY a sleeper hit, because the use of the classic card deck we all know is just a low bar of entry into what has NOTHING to do with any traditional card game at its core, which is stacking buffs, ordering them for execution and building strategy around upgrades.

Absolutely not my cup of tea :)

Loved this game. I'm a little burnt out on it though after beating all of the difficulties (2/3rds of which with every deck).
