LTTP: Gamecube

Haters wanna hate.....

GCN is a fantastic system unless you plan on buying 100 AAA games. I'd type up a firestorm of a recommendation list if my roommate wasn't trying to sleep.
Says the guy with a Mario avatar.

Seriously though. No party, it's more like a friendly get together.....with a handful of people.....to talk about economics.

In all honesty, I'm really just a Metroid freak and have been dying to play the GC Metroids for a while, there was just no compelling reason for me to fork over the money for a GC to do that until the possibility of getting one for so little money came up.

I like Zelda too - basically I like both series mainly for their atmospheres, so it should be fun times. Might help me stave off a PS3 and/or Wii purchase for a while.

Regarding Metroid Prime 2: It's good, but nowhere near Prime 1. The enviroments aren't that great (unless you love cramped, futuristic, electronic-y spaces). It's basically Prime 1 but with worse enviroments -> worse atmosphere which is key to the Metroid games. Hope I didn't scare you. :) I love it and you will to if you love Prime 1.

Abomination.

This is the most baffling opinion ever to me.

Its the most thoroughly polished Nintendo game since Ocarina of Time. Definately one of Gamecube's finest games.

It seems like very few of us can understand the absolute greatness and definitive, objective superiority of Metroid Prime 2 over Metroid Prime. :(

Games for gamers who hate games.
We have hit a new low on GAF, ladies and gentlemen. Watch it fester.
Although I'm sure people have said this before.

Please explain.

Well, the graphics are better, the level design is better, the gameplay is (slightly) improved, the bosses are better, the art direction is...well...better if we don't count the fugly dark world, which we obviously won't count for obvious and uh...objective reasons :) .
Seriously, I mean...Almost every single aspect of Metroid Prime have been improved in this sequel ! To compare, think that Metroid Prime 2 is like the Zelda : Majora's Mask of the Metroid series ; a vastly superior sequel overshadowed by the original game :( .
I certainly do not deny the greatness of Metroid Prime, but DAMN if MP2 isn't a fcking awesome game

The graphics are almost the same. I know they made a completely new engine for the sequel but I can hardly tell them apart.

The level design is better why? Prime one had that Metroid feeling whereas Prime 2 did not, thanks to level design. I know that this is subjective, but you said the opposite. And the dark world sucked ass.

Great game, though. :)

Pikmin. Anything EAD do is excellent really. Fire Emblem. Trying to think of something everyone one has missed. I have been doing something similar. Getting all the good GC games. I have bought around 30 in 6 weeks. And yes Donkey Konga: Jungle Beat is really underrated platformer. Some have gone as far as saying its the best platformer of last/current gen. I haven't played any other platformer, but its definately a candidate. And I play with bongo's. I will have a look and come back with more.

Subjectivity, objectivity...Whatever

Seriously, I found the level design of MP2 to be more complex and more enjoyable than the MP one. Even if it was less Metroid-like, I think that MP2 brought its own style and level design ideas to the whole Metroid series.

And the dark world sucked ass.

I am not listening to you.
Nope. I am not listening.

Pikmin 2
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Paper Mario 2
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Rogue Leader

Those are my top five recommendations (you already have TWW).

Rogue Leader

Ow forgot to mention this, I really liked this game. Of all the early GC-singleplayer games I played this one the most. That the game looked good was a plus, but the missions themselves were really fun to play (and to become better in). I must've played the Death Star mission tons of times to finally get that gold medal. I almost got gold on all the missions too, except the boring ones (e.g the one where you have to escort some transport vehicles). The Battle of Endor is just pure awesomeness, as is the final strike at the core.

Ow and iirc there were some kickass secret vehicles, like Darth Vader's TIE fighter etc

Does the GC have any definitive versions of games that are must-haves (I know BG&E is one)? I never had a GC but I need to start building my GC library for when the Wii arrives.

The one thing I suggest is to ignore GAFs comments for most 1st party games because you'll up with shit like kirby air ride (which apparently is good at exactly (and only) the 60 hour mark) and miss out on good stuff like echoes.

Echoes is an excellent sequel to Prime. It surpass the original in many areas and falls short in others. The only problem with echoes is "keys" that you have to find at some point. Some people also didn't like the dark world but i found it intersting, it gave you a sense of urgency. The boss battles are excellent.

Buy and play Killer 7. You will probably lose your soul and your sanity in the process, but whatever ! It feels so good^__^.

Oh and Metroid Prime 2 : Echoes too. Screw the goddamned haters.

I agree with Killer 7, you can get it used for like 8 bux! Strangest game ever.
