This game came out when I was in freshman year of college.

Even though this game is certainly established with chapters, a story and everything, it's still so far out that you couldn't factor it into the mainstream of gaming and gears of war, Gears of War Judgement is too rare to even talk about with casual gamers.

The classic gears cover system is here and gives you the ability to well, take cover.

The campaign is short and sweet (7-10 hour game).

Guns are important in any shooter and there's plenty here:
Lancer, the gnasher shotgun, longshot, grenades etc. and they allow you to destroy enemies in a variety of ways like the lancers' chainsaw function.

I'm pretty sure the multiplayer is dead, but there were a few online.

Unless they bundle this game in with another new release I'm pretty sure it will be forgotten.

Gears of War Judgement shows greatness, I like the approach of the story through a trial and flashbacks with each character but in the end it didn't feel as passionate as other entries.

What did GAF think of this particular Gears of War title?

It was definitely different, but still good.

All X360 Gears are fantastic.

The last half of 4 is much better than the first half. Redeems itself.

5 was great beginning to end.

the only time I ever played this was on Xbox One when it became backwards compatible.

and I'm not sure if the backwards compatibility wasn't great yet at the time or whatever, but the game had input lag like a motherfucker, which made it near unplayable to me

I beat it last year. Its good. Having some challenges in each section reminded me a bit of DMC or something. Game is very similar to the original 3. Kind of cool to see that time period closer to emergence day.

I just recently played the entire Gears saga for the first time. I played them all in their optimized states (X enhancements, Series versions, FPS Boost), so my impressions of the games probably aren't the same as people who played them all when they were new.

This was my ranking as posted in the "What game are you playing" thread:

1. Gears of War 2
2. Gears of War
3. Gears of War Judgement
4. Gears of War 4
5. Gears of War 3
6. Gears 5

After about a month to consider the matter, I'm sticking with that order.
Although Gears Tactics would come in at #2 if I were including it in the list.

Addendum:
My ranking for the DLC campaigns.
1. Hivebusters
2. Aftermath
3. Raam's Shadow
4. Road to Ruin

The campaign was decent enough, but that MP was Gears' attempt at attracting a more casual/CoD market and it just flopped hard.

Why is this the only 360 Gears of War with a shitty resolution on Series X retrocompatability?

Best guess:
Microsoft insisted on their BC teams playing through every single game that was added to backwards compatibility. Since X Enhancement also had to be thoroughly tested for each game, they chose to prioritize their teams on the main trilogy. By the time any further X Enhancements were going to be added, MS had already shut down the BC program and dissolved the testing teams.

It's Gears of War gameplay with Painkiller pacing (which doesn't come as a surprise given its developer), and I like that a lot for a spin-off. As a fan of the Gears lore I also like the focus on Baird and his past and the introduction of Paduk, who is a badass on the one hand and also gives the pendulum wars a bit more relevance on the other hand.

I'll be mad if the game is not part of the remaster collection.

It was a decent ending to the Gears series on the 360, though I think it would have fared better as a One launch title. Gamers were getting fed up of the 360 generation by the time it was released.
