I usually prefer gameplay over audio/visuals but Inside totally blew me away with its presentation.
Every aspect of the presentation is top-notch, and the experience was really memorable for my wife and I. We were on the edges of our seats the whole time. By contrast, the gameplay seems like it's there simply to move the experience along. As bad as that sounds, it does a great job in this regard IMHO. It's definitely more interactive than, say, a Telltale game, and yet does not distract or detract from the presentation.
As a whole, every small, individual aspect of the game seems designed, deliberate, a component of the immersive presentation, which is not something that can be said of every game out there. But from a pure gameplay perspective, there isn't as much happening here, so I can totally understand why it would disappoint some people. Nothing is for everyone, and that's the way it should be. Honestly, I think I would have disliked this game 10 years ago, but in 2017 I loved it.
