LTTP: Young Justice

Does this at least end on a decent note? I stopped watching at ep. 9 after learning it got canceled.

I disagree with the people above. Yes, the big world-historical plot isn't entirely wrapped up by the end of S2, although S1 and S2 each do have fairly self-contained arcs of this sort. However, that's not really the best part of the show, as far as I'm concerned. The development of individual characters is much more interesting. Understood as The Miss Martian Show (feat.
Artemis
), there's a really satisfying story there that wraps up very nicely. At the end of it, I was a little confused as to what could actually have happened in an S3 taking place immediately after S2; everything important was done with.

I realise all superhero names are dumb... I just find "sports master" more silly than most. That's all. As I say, I am wrapping up season 1 and it's stil holding my attention way more than Justice league and Justice League Unlimited.

While I was more partial to Green Lantern: The Animated Series than Young Justice, I'm still upset that both programs we're canned for the most idiotic of reasons.

I finished this. It was really good

the way the show hit you with
the timeskip and Aqualad's switch to the other side — coupled with knowing Black Manta was his father and the girl he used to love was killed — really had me believing it was legit. The writers already showed how daring they were to do such a big timeskip, so it was also conceivable they could kill off a major character, retire a couple and make one go bad.
A lot of times, twists or surprising developments occur in long-running fiction, yet are surrounded by other status quo-meeting stuff, so it sticks out and could still be relatively easy to revert everything back to normal.

Also liked the
Starro
plot because it felt appropriately big and threatening.

even though I now realize how sad it was the show was canceled, it felt so complete. There's only a one or two sequel season hooks (
Vandal Savage x Darkseid, Kid Flash obviously not straight-up dying and possibly existing in the speed force somewhere
) but everything else as far as characters and developments go wrapped up okay. Even those two set-ups could just be seen as "and the adventure continues" and just a legitimate sacrifice, respectively.

Just finished this. Fuck CN for cancelling, hell if they had allowed a third season to be crowdfunded it would've been made but they weren't even open to that.

Can Netflix fund another season of this show?

It was ridiculously good, I don't know why CN cancelled it.

I would be fine with it being only two seasons if it hadn't ended in a cliffhanger. The show did had 46 episodes, 5 episode less than the tradition 52 episode a show usually can get, but there was enough to wrap up
Vandal Savage and the Light storyline instead of teasing Darkseid

In an ideal world, we would have a new Justice League show continuing where Young Justice left behind.

I've just been hit with a wave of saltiness and decided to dig this thread out from its shallow grave.

So many damn amazing superhero cartoons canceled in such a short period of time: Wolverine and the X-Men, The Spectacular Spider-Man, Green Lantern: TAS, Avengers: EMH.

But goddamnit, Young Justice was my favorite. With all the questionable decisions they made in season 2 by expanding the cast to its seams, I still loved the ambition of the whole thing. To make an animated series that wasn't afraid to be plot-heavy, to actually push the barriers of its censorship, to give great characterization to so many characters: this show had lofty aspirations before whoever the hell pulled the rug out from underneath us.

And they won't even dignify us with a bluray release.

Young Justice was one of the most impressive efforts at paying tribute to the entire rambling modern DC Universe sprawl in a single coherent vision. You knew they had world-building bibles and rulebooks to provide logical consistency inasmuch as is possible in a full-blown mainstream comic book continuity.

Even Timm's incredible DCAU, could not have that level of consistency given its release order (to reconcile B:TAS with Beyond and League). By the time we got to Unlimited we were getting a larger taste of the DCU, but in haphazard (if delightful) form, whereas with YJ, I felt like we could always feel the plan (even if not every viewer agreed with it) and larger intentions.

Unfortunately both seasons ended up being transitional in their own way... a third season would have let us see the show in full stride.
