Well, the naming poll that was running on Lunar-Net has come and gone, and it looks like we have a winnah.

From The Magic Box

Marvelous Interactive will release the Nintendo DS action RPG Lunar Genesis in Japan on August 25. The US version of the game will be released by Ubisoft under the name Lunar: Dragon Song sometime in July.

Ancient, and yet, this thread is not totally worthless.

America is getting Lunar before Japan? WTF, is it even being developed there or what?

Who is the bastard from Working Designs who said the DS sucked and it wouldn't see a Lunar game if he had anything to do with it? I forget. Anyway, spam his email with this thread :)

Something to do.

They need to leave Lunar the fuck alone. GameArts isn't revisiting it themselves for a reason.

That doesn't even resemble the series at all. Even Magic School looked like Lunar.

Damn skippy. Digging that dual screen battle action. Makes me want a Final Fantasy with onscreen real estate like that.

Yeah, it looks like utter filth. And being a license farm out to Marvelous Soft, you can bet it'll play even worse than it looks.

Lunar wrapped up long, long ago, and while remakes to new platforms are one thing, farming out the license to mediocre developers and effectively digging up the skeleton of a classic is rather irritating.

Of course, that's especially so considering Grandia is the evolution of Lunar. However, it should be interesting going from garbage scraps (Lunar: Dragon Song) to prime rib (Grandia III) all within a year. AWKWARD BATTLE OF GAMEARTS LICENSES, GO!

jarrod was saying a few months ago that it was whoever makes those Harvest Moon games.
Marvelous Interactive. They also make the River King games.

Ubisoft PR though mentions a new group comprised of the original Lunar staff are working on this (most of whom left GameArts during/after Grandia's development). GameArts themselves have a seperate DS RPG in development (I'm hoping for a Grandia 1 port/remake).

This is the first RPG for the DS, isnt it? Here, defenietly.

And July... thats not so bad.

Whats the expectations for it?
