Lucid dreaming

Anyone ever tried to "induce" lucid dreaming? I'm chatting with a buddy of mine online and he's telling about some book he's reading where it tries to teach you to lucid dream. Sounds interesting if you can actually control it. I wouldn't mind steering my dreams all the time. :lol

A while back I tried it for a bit, but could never really do it except for once. Didn't last very long either.

I lucid dream fairly often, I'm never really in control though. It's like I know I'm dreaming and I can affect things but it's not like as soon as I realise I'm dreaming I can transport myself to my mansion full of hotties on the moon. Some times I can't affect anything at all.

That sucks man. I mean if you realize you're dreaming, you should be able to turn into superman and go do whatever you want, including slamming the mansion full of hotties.

I lucid dream fairly often, too. The amount of control I have will vary though. And even when I can control my actions well, the results won't always turn out as expected. For instance, I can fly, but then I may not be able to fly well, so I'm veering all over the place trying to fly straight and not run into trees.

i'm sort of the same way, although it's more of an apathy thing for me. In the dreams where really bad things happen, i'll usually let them play out with the knowledge that it's a dream, since i'm not really interested in what's happening . Kinda like watching a movie, although i will wake up if things go horribly wrong. When there's something good happening, or more specifically when there's a sexual situation, i control the dream. i don't feel in total control like i did when i was younger. Even though i feel everything my dream self feels, when it comes to controlling him, it's more like issuing commands than actually directly controlling the dream.

Happened to me a few times. I'd wake up after a dream, then i'd set my alarm back another hour or so. Then i'd have a dream, but at the same time i know that i'm in my bed sleeping. And it's weird how the dream seems too go for about an hour then you wake up and realize it's only been about 5 minutes since you last woke up.

Hah, that happened to me too. I was in a swimming pool, realized I was asleep and decided to fly. As soon as I made that decision I was sucked up into the sky spinning out of control. I did get a nice view of the city for a second before I slammed awake.

Edit: Also you're not exactly thinking straight when you're asleep, 'Oh I'm dreaming, hm, guess I should fly' is pretty much as far as you can get.

I had a lucid dream a few nights ago. It was triggered by the 2 miniature deer in my room. "Hey, wait, this is the sort of thing that happens in dreams... oh, i am dreaming... cool, should i fly or have sex?"

I opted for sex, and went downstairs to find the girl in the lower apartment. Fun stuff.

I can control my dreams completely, I just never think to do something as awesome as that when I dream.

The last time I had a lucid dream (before I actually knew about lucid dreams) was a while back. Once I realized that I was dreaming, I gave myself the power of flight and flew around my room for a while :) (the dream occured inside my house).

I dreamt I was in Tokyo for a day last night, I was soon having all the sex in the next dream of the evening though. Awesome.

I have 70% control of what i want to dream of and what happens in my dream, if i so choose to. I used to do this all the time before basketball games, before dates etc. Now i have kinda given up control...i barely dream...and now i have dreams that i have no control of...almost nightmarish. Ever since i broke up with my ex....damn women....damn love all to hell!!

I have lucid dreams from time to time though I haven't really tried inducing them. I don't have any trouble doing anything like flying how I want to. In a dream, you just can't force your body to fly, but you have to make the dream let you fly, if that makes any sense. Attempting sex makes you wake up way too quickly. I've heard though, that if you spin around in your dream when you feel like you're waking up you're less likely to wake up. I'm guessing it's concentration that wakes you up, so that might just work.

I have the most incredible dreams. Extremely vivid. Depending on how realistic they are, I sometimes get events that occur in them confused with reality. I typically have complete control, except in cases where the setting takes over. I have dreams every night, sometimes even when I go down for an hour's nap. Goes against what I've been told about the sleep/dream cycle, but I'm definitely dreaming after only a bit of sleep. Note that my imagination is pretty nuts already.

I always wonder with lucid dreaming to what extend people think they have control, but are just dreaming they have control :). Anyway, I once had a dream that repeated itself, a bit like the repeating scene in Ghost in the Shell Innocence. I entered the (dark) attic of my house, saw a glimpse of something and fell/died. Returned to where the scene began and once again entered the attic. This time I saw red eyes and something fairly small run up to me and hit/kill me. Then it started again, but this time I was quite pissed so I kicked the furry red-eyed thing to death or something and eveyrhing was good again. Sometimes my dreams freak me out but this one wasn't really gruesome or scary.
