Same luigis and waluigi are my favorite from the mario universe.
Things going viral market/spread themselves without the necessary input of their designers. I don't see how the "sony of today" would do anything with it, nor why they would be expected to. Unless you're talking examples like past e3 where they said "we're changing nothing, except for the part where we charge for online play" and the entire gaming internet rejoiced for some reason.

Nintendo really should consider including more video sharing mechanics in their future games(...and they should also consider integrating online play into more of their multiplayer IPs...)
Stuff like this has the potential to go viral, and it could really help them sell software and hardware.
Edit: The next 2D Mario needs to get the MK8 treatment. Great graphics, good online play, and sharing mechanics.

At most I feel that at E3 if there's Mario Kart DLC to be announced they may make a quick reference to this. "We see that various players have been enjoying Mario Kart 8 and uploading their highlights onto the Nintendo Network *cut to clip of a Luigi Death Stare*". That kind of thing.
It was at 1 million just yesterday, impressive!
After the looking at fruits, I can totally see a reenacment of the stare happening.

Agreed. As long as Nintendo continue to make the geography in the NSMB with a tileset for the level design, it cannot be particularly difficult or costly to make a game with visuals similar to MK8 or SM3DW with level design akin to NSMB or the classic games. They really need to give people a reason to want to play Mario side-scrollers again.
Being the best Mario side-scrollers they've ever made is a good reason... NSMBU looked pretty great, too.
He would have been awesome with his scarf flapping in the wind.

Yeah, people obviously want the games(NSMBU is pretty much the best selling WiiU title, and will probably continue to be for a good while) They're really good games, and they don't need to fix much on the gameplay side.
However, I definitely think Nintendo would benefit from treating NSMBU's sequel like they've treated MK8.
I think people would flip if they saw a online connected(Online play, Stronger Miiverse integration, and video sharing) 2D Mario that looked like MK8/SM3DW with a bigger selection of characters.

Besides the fact that outside general aesthetic and music, they are among the best 2D Mario games, especially NSMBU, I have always though the backgrounds of NSMBU looked amazing and if something that good could be implemented into the games, it would look amazing

Speaking of which, recently revealed stage for Smash4 that would also look amazing for the games, in the slightly tweaked drastically improved manner I'm talking about
Now I understand this exact change probably wouldnt work the best with the games, but the overall idea is similar
