Lumines and PSP Owners - A Question.

Is Lumines worth importing a PSP for? Or would you suggest waiting until the NA launch and just importing Lumines?

I personally want to hear Nobuchika Eri's song in Lumines (Lights).

I'd import it for that.

I reckon Lumines might get a music change for the U.S.

That would be great, actually..

Same game...twice as much music (buy both).

That's assuming the changes would be good, which they wouldn't.

I don't see any signs to why they would change it though. Rez wasn't changed was it? Even games like Katamary Damacy kept their original soundtracks.

Just so you know, I don't think any of us with a PSP (not even those that got it on launch day) have heard Lights in Lumines yet. It's the FINAL skin in Challenge Mode before the cycle repeats and there are like 23 skins before it. :)

I reckon Lumines might get a music change for the U.S.

I doubt so, the music and skins are too synced. The entire game would have to be redesigned from scratch. This isnt DDR with licensed music, it's very very different.

1) God, i hope it goesn't get a music change.

2) Jesus, i wish someone would announce it for US release so i can stop freaking out about it.

As good as the game is (and it is very, very good), I can't wrap my mind around paying a $200 premium to play a puzzle game a couple of months early.

If the PSP can be imported for $300 or less within a few weeks, then by all means pull the trigger. If it's later than that, then just put money down at Gamestop or EB and wait for the US launch.

BTW, even if the US version gets a music playlist change, you can still buy the import version (no region lock, remember? :)).

Erm...there really isn't much to doing that..

I mean..
1. Record the song.
2. Divide it into looping sections.
3. Set level-to-acheive to advance past current loop.
4. Record samples for block movement/turning/dropping/clearing

This is true for the majority of songs on there. Very few songs are directly tied graphically to their skins.

Also, I think a version of Lumines with new songs for the U.S. would be great. If you don't like it, import the jp one. I doubt this game will ever see a true sequel, and having a collection of new songs to play it with would be great.

(btw, I do have a PSP and Lumines)

both play-asia and lik-sang have it for $50, which isn't too ridiculous, unlike the $80 that NCSX is charging for SRW:GC.

It's a puzzle game. You'll figure it out in 27 seconds.
Well, of course, but for song lists, and menu navigation, I wouldn't mind if it was in a language I understand. Sadly, Japanese is not one of them.

The menus and skin icons and puzzle objectives are all in English. The prompts and other minor stuff are in Japanese, but you shouldn't have a problem figuring those out even if you can't read them.

Thanks for the input. I was planning on ordering a copy of Lumines soon, just gotta wait for my credit card payment to clear.

Because I'm lazy, it's late, I have to open tomorrow and I told everyone I was going to bed two hours ago, I'm just going something I said in another thread that also has relevance here.

But I want to know if Lumines is so insanely good that it's worth paying insane prices. I'd jump at the chance to get a $299 PSP, which is only $80 less than what Lik-Sang's asking, and I wouldn't be shocked to see another price drop by the end of the month. It's just eating away at my soul, you see.

Thanks for the input. Now it seems that Buddy and I are, more or less, in the same perdicament. Do I wait until the NA release of the PSP and pray that this game makes it over as well, or do I import them both and play them to my heart's content, thus breaking the bank? I was considering importing Lumines from Play-asia, and then buying a PSP when it launches in NA just in case the game becomes rare in Japan, and doesn't make it to our shores.

Ok, because many future PSP owners are reading this thread I will give this warning. When you buy your PSP make sure... MAKE SURE you buy a screen protector with it. there's nothing more heartbreaking than wiping off your screen with a microfiber cloth and realizing you just scuffed your PSP. These light scratches (only seen at certain angles) are unavoidable. Anyone who says that they have cleaned their PSP without the scratches has not seen it in the correct light. So get the screen protector and put it on as soon as you open the box.

small print run on lumines, and i wouldn't necessarily expect it to come over here. might not be a bad idea to import it now, even if you don't have the system.

and yeah, my psp is already scratched to hell. it's only noticeable under bright light, but it still bums me out. i wonder if sony will sell replacement faceplates. or something.

i don't trust those screen protectors either. my advice to future psp owners is simply not to touch the screen, at all, ever. use a can of compressed air to blow off dust.

drohne, won't it also potentially scratch it if you use the handbag that comes with the value pack? that sucks aswell :(

I'm probably going to pick Lumines up when i get paid in 2 weeks, then look at the box for 3 months before the US PSP ships.
