A friend bought a used PS5 from Amazon. Turns out the pre owner didn't reset it and so my friend now has access to >700 bought games. Pretty sure the pre owner will recognize this at some point and he probably will change the password. Could my friend download a few games and keep the console offline? Is there any chance he could add his account to get the trophies?

After a certain amount of time, you will need to log in with your account. So this is probably short-lived, regardless of whether the owner notices it or not.

I would not be surprised if Sony considers it to be fraudulent behavior to knowingly access someone else's account on a console that hasn't been reset. I wouldn't risk it myself.
