Amazon’s Luna game streaming service arrives on Samsung’s 2022 smart TVs and monitors

Amazon Luna includes more than 250 games and is also available on PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, Fire TVs and tablets, and iOS and Android. Samsung Gaming Hub’s controller passthrough tech will allow Amazon Luna to support any Bluetooth controller or the regular Luna Controller.

That's Google owns fault. They had the tech and started before xCloud. Stadia had insane potential. They could be huge now but Google only like when their gimmicks work straight away.

Needs a bigger games library. Spotify is kinda the same thing, lesser quality and no hardware needed, but there you have millions of albums.

In general I like streaming when the streaming quality is good end it’s not too much latency.

But the games library needs to improve and it all needs to be included with the subscription from the start and not like Stadia where you had to buy the games or build your Pro library from the few games they added per month.
Just Copy Spotify and Netflix.

And… Luna sucks, doesn’t even work in my country

I'd use it if it was supported on my LG TV. I have a 1 gbps internet connection with no data cap and there are a ton of games of all kinds and from all eras on Luna. If I didn't need to connect some other device to my TV, like a Fire Stick, to use it, I most definitely would.

I use Xcloud all the time even though I have a Series X and a PC. It compliments the rest of the product offering by letting me try out all the new Gamepass games without having to download. If I decide I like a game and want either lower latency or higher graphical fidelity then I can download it. Some games that have a huge install and I don't regularly play such as Flight Simulator are actually preferable to me to remain cloud streamed only. For me Xcloud isn't a replacement to existing hardware just merely an extra secondary way to play the games. At times convenience does come out on top above everything else and Xcloud is good enough whilst been super convenient.

Cloud library could and will be better soon enough (gamers don't realize there are already 3000 games available from GFN to PS Now).

As for the Netflix model... Well, that's cool that you like it.(Xcloud is for you and don't worry Luna will follow sooner or later).
Nonetheless, cloud also needs a la carte gaming for people who play less and want specific types of games... Not paying any sub is for me fucking relief.(kudos to Stadia and GFN to allow free gaming on their datacenters)

I still prefer native since I have the box. But streaming is quite good already and will become even better in the future, so that buying the next box probably won't be necessary.

Do you feel any input lag on Xcloud? Depending on the game it can be quite bad. More precisely doom eternal, or any 60fps game that requires precision!

I don't notice any input lag, but I mostly play games like As Dusk falls or little indie games like Tunic. Id' never use it for something like Doom or Halo. Also, I'm in Metro Los Angeles so I would guess I'm close to a data center.

To be fair, i didn't think about guys like you.(usually you don't take things too seriously and have sense of humor).

I was thinking about folks seeing cloud gaming as a future threat for their favorite console. (I don't count either gamers like DeepEnigma who have legitimate concerns about game preservation, for instance).

Instead of pressuring Google, Amazon, or Govs for new contracts, laws regarding digital content (content removed happened also with digital, not only cloud), they have chosen to be basic bitches by spreading fake news or ridiculous cliches about cloud.

So, yeah, as a player, it will remain a pleasure to drink their tears. (Each time Luna, GFN or Stadia integrate a Smart TV, i know some console warriors will cry : " Noooooo, don't use that crap, brother. You're supposed to buy the new Playstation")

Behind the fake laughs, many console warriors know things can change very fast.(financially Sony was in great danger at some point with the PS3 and i guess some fans are still angry at Apple/Google for kicking off Sony from the handheld market...)

I agree with them : Physical is great in many ways, we must protect physical games...
But their methods is ridiculous.

Downplaying cloud isn't the right answer.

Some folks often talk about losing access to games. My question for them: Don't you lose access to your Series X every day at work ?

With cloud, you just bring a mobile(mobile datas), a small tablet (wifi) and that's it...

I know it's hard to understand for some hardcore gamers, but both can survive.

As Sony mentioned when they announced almost a decade ago their long term plans for their cloud gaming, they plan to bring it to smartphones, tablets an tvs. We also saw in relatively recent patents and related stuff that they are working on it.

I expect them to release it on at least mobile maybe later this fiscal year or -more likely- early in the next one, and whenever they also open it to tvs make sure it will join these other ones.

Samsung has been the tv market leader for 16 years in a row, so I'm pretty sure Sony's cloud gaming will join this too whenever they start to bring it to tvs.

What speed do you need to play these games? I have 200 mbps, and ANYTHING I've streamed on the PS5 looks and plays like absolute ass. It's a frustrating experience out the gate.

Is it easier to stream a game than offer it for download like Gamepass? I get the idea behind streaming in a browser, but if I'm playing on a PS5, why couldn't I just download the game?

Speed is mostly irrelevant. You can have 50mbps or 1gbps, doesn't make much of a difference. If your experience is really bad it probably means there's no data center near you.
