You need at least a little liquid to saute properly. Best i've come up with is to put things like onions underneath the meat you're cooking so that some of the fat falls onto them, keeping them from drying out. You might also wanna put them in a few minutes later because they don't take long to cook if cut thinly. i only eat fish, can assume it would work better with beef, pork, or another land animal.
i cook when i have the time, but nothing beats putting something on the grill with some spices and veggies and having it come out perfect (with practice). It's pretty easy to clean up too. This and just about anything from Ron Popeil (sp?) are about the only infomercial products i'd actually buy.
