Longish story...
OK, so I had burned a couple DVDs a few weeks back with Xilisoft DVD Creator and it worked just fine. Other than a screwed up aspect ration [didn't check the settings], everything came out as expected. Fast forward to the other day and I'm trying to burn a few more AVIs to clear disk space... The program converts the files just fine, but once it gets t authoring it says "burn failed" blah blah blah. I pop in another blank DVD thinking maybe it was just that one disc causing an error, but it happens again. I try another video and I get the same results.
After looking around the internet I find that Toast is probably my best bet, so I acquire that. I load it up, add my video file, make my nice menu and all that, and when it finally gets to burn... Same freaking thing happens. I start reading up on it, and apparently it has happened to a few users before [DVD drive/burn failure] so I started getting worried.
As a final test I tried to burn a DVD just using the "Burn Folder" option on my desktop. Sure enough, it fails as well. I'm shitting bricks at this point thinking I'm going to have to fork over a pretty penny to get a new lens/drive/whatever. I decide to delete Xilisoft DVD Creator as I needed to have something to blame for my troubles and that felt like the most logical option. I try to empty my trash but it won't let me, saying some small files were in use [forgot the actual names, sorry]. So I restart my computer, empty the trash [successfully], and try to burn again using a Burn Folder and it freaking worked. :O I am soooooooo relieved...
So I'm just wondering if anyone else ever had any problem with Xilisoft software [in general] and/or could answer why the failed burns came up in the first place.
tl;dr
FUCK XILISOFT.
