Apple just dropped the price of refurb 15" MBPs by $200-$300. Here we go.

What are the odds of Coffeelake? Apple used to get Intel chips first. Wouldn't be unprecedented.

I forgot about Gurman specifically saying Kaby. There goes my coffee hopes.

Probably going to be looking to upgrade my MacBook Air this fiscal year. My current laptop is 4 years old, which is not bad - the worst thing about my computer is the lack of RAM. 4GB as a developer can be quite the challenge. If I run an emulator, my computer is basically unusable for any other applications. I am looking to go for 16 GB, if I can swing it. 8 would be OKAY. I do not need the most updated computer - perfectly fine with getting a previous, refurbished iteration.

what should i do if Safari has recently started to refresh tabs far too?

it happens regardless of a few tabs being open, many tabs open, and few programs open.

I'll be watching these updates. I bought an open box 2015 MBP in November when the touch bar came out (lol v1 apple). But I spilled something on it and the keys are all sticky :(

Thanks, I am totally ignorant on the matter but Ill call the phone provider

Phones, if bought on contract, are locked to that carrier. The carrier has to be the one to unlock it before it can be used with a different company.

Other thing to do is check http://www.apple.com/iphone/lte to make sure the specific model of phone you sent him will work on his network

Sticky keys should be the least of you worries if you spilled something on it

I know this. I immediately powered down and flipped it over to dry. No adverse affects yet, but I need to have it inspected for liquid damage. can't afford to not have my laptop right now while they look at it until I am done with a project I am in the middle of.

Ok, so I'm trying to figure out if there's a way on the MacBook 2016 models to use the iGPU on windows 10 instead of the RX 450. I tried installing the drivers for the I7 6700Q but it says it doesn't meat the minimum requirements. My internet searches aren't yielding much success.

Apple really need to sort out the janky animation when transitioning from a fullscreen video back to a full screen webpage.

Why does it dump me back to the desktop before awkwardly scrambling back to the full screen page I had open?

.

Intels drivers will not work. The chip packages on the MacBook Pros are different than their packages in other notebooks. Even if he same CPU is found in other notebooks. I found this out in 2011 when the Intel iGPU had horrible bugs that were fixed in about a month. I had to wait for Apple to update their drivers 2 months later.

I'm using a first-gen rMBP. Whenever I plug in my second monitor, the fans spin up and make noise, even if no apps are running at all. What's this about?

The rMBP uses the standard, non-scaled retina resolution. The monitor is 1080p. I've already tried resetting the PRAM and SMC, as well as turning off automatic graphics switching. Neither fixed it.

Take it apart and clean it? iFixit saved my sister-in-law's MBP when she poured coffee/bailey's into it.

Hey guys I'm new to the MacBook world and I have some questions.

I'm hearing some negative stuff about the current MacBook Pro and how it doesn't live up to the name. Is that heresay? Should I wait for a refresh or jump now? My budget is 1500-2500 and I'm willing to be patient.

I'm looking for power and any size screen.

I'm assuming it didn't used to do this? When did it start and have you cleaned out the internal fans in a while?

The negative stuff about the new MacBook pros isn't necessarily heresay but it depends on your use cases. I have the base touchbar model and I love it, but that's not the case for everyone and I recognize that. That being said if you can wait 5 days and 21 hours to see what's announced at WWDC on Monday you'll see if anything newer comes out and if it strikes your fancy

You should wait for WWDC and you should go to an Apple store to try the laptops yourself.

As silly as it sounds.. I can't remember when it started. It's been like that for a long time, and I hardly used my rMBP within the last few months. It's also been a while since I cleaned the fans, so I'll try this today.

However: I'm not entirely sure, but as far as I remember, I did not have this issue when running Windows, thus indicating a software issue. I need to try this also.

anyone can recommend a good mouse that isn't too expensive? is the wire apple mouse good? the scroll wheel seems different too.

SteelSeries are okay, especially if you don't mind game branding being on your mouse (clearance bargains to be had on old game merch). Just don't install their drivers as their kernel extensions are problematic.

Apple mice are terrible.

Does anyone else's MBP 2016 get very hot on the down side after using it for a while on the lap?

edit: ah I guess this is coming from the parallel download of Xcode... lol

I haven't come across an MBP 15 that doesn't get hot. My 2012 MBPr 15 work gets really hot along the top function keys. When I put it to work, the tip of my finders get irritated from the exposure to the heat comping from underneath the keys. Both my personal MBP 13 2011 and MBPr 13 2015 get hot on the bottom towards the back.

So my parents' PC is fairly old (running Windows 7) and is about time for an upgrade. I'd love to move them onto a Mac, but I dunno if I should go with the entry level iMac or entry level Mac Mini. Any reason I should pick one over the other?

Also, what's the latest on remote desktop for Mac? I'd love to be able to remotely help with tech support via a remote desktop-style solution. I used to be able to do with with my girlfriend via iChat's "share screen" feature way back in '04 but that program has been all but dead for some time.

Thoughts?

I was upset at no Macbook Air successor but I think 3 years from now when I want to replace mine, it will be with a iPad Pro. I didn't expect that.

So in theory if I bought Apples External GPU enclosure and connected it to my 2015 4Ghz Skylake iMac via the two TB2 ports on it what kind of graphics card would work well with that setup? A 1070?

I'm not entirely sure you can split the TB3 output into two TB2 and have it work at TB3 bandwidth as a result.

It also looks like eGPU stuff isn't shipping with High Sierra .0 release.

My friend already has been doing this external gpu thing on windows 10 on his 15" with touchbar. Now he can do it on macOS as well once high sierra hits.

Also no 32gb ram option for 15" touch bar :/

Was never guaranteed, desktop RAM may take up too much power/too much space since it had to be desktop RAM

Mac Mini is dead. One day their gonna take it out back with the MBA.
I think they'll do a mini refresh when they unveil the new Mac Pro. Then they'll get the MacBook price down to $999 and dump the Air.

Then they'll have 3 Mac categories with a lower end version and a higher end "Pro" version:

Notebook: MacBook | MacBook Pro
All-in-One: iMac | iMac Pro
Desktop: Mac mini | Mac Pro

Yeah judging by the iMac Pro release date in December and the spring 2018 stuff for GPUs, I feel like there's no way we're getting a new Mac Pro until spring or WWDC 2018, and even then it could just be an announcement with a later shipping date like this iMac SKU or the original tubular Mac Pro.

Updated Mac Mini with Thunderbolt 3 would be sensational.

But alas.

At this point I think the only hope is that it gets updated in the fall as a footnote alongside the iPhones and such. If it doesn't, it's probably dead.

Hey everyone. My old iMac just kicked the bucket-I can get a employee discount from my employer-is this a decent machine?
