This is the best day ever. And that CoM video makes me happy. Makes me want it now.
 
Haven't had a chance to mess with Messages yet beyond installing it, but it's nice to see that it has native MSN support. The hurdles to get an MSN account in iChat were pretty ridiculous.
 
If I change my Caller ID for iMessage on my phone to my email address for the sake of syncing conversations between my devices, will that change anything from the point of view of people receiving messages from me? Like for people who have my phone number but not my email address?

It's just I have a number of work-related contacts who I don't want to have my personal email address. I won't do it if my email is suddenly going to start popping up on their phones because they don't have it associated with me in their contacts.
 
Anti-beachball dialog? Safari ran into a bug and it was about to freeze but this prevented it and asked me if it wanted to continue letting it occur or let it crash.

Indeed, now I won't have to hear people complaining about how they can't have devices on top, and will only have to hear how it is unfair that Apple wants them to upgrade to Mountain Lion to have the feature....

Frankly I never have more than 1 or 2 disks plugged in at a time, but always have 10 favorites, so it made sense to have them on the top, but glad the option is now there for people to change it around if need be.

Edit: seems I couldn't finish my post before the complaints. :lol

I got used to Devices on the bottom pretty quickly but I just want to move Shared down to the bottom since it's the least used category (for me at least).

Also what's with Safari 5.2 tabs not having progress indicators. Like.... what
 
Mountain Lion? LOL.

I eagerly await OS X Kitten.


Looking forward most to iMessage on OSX. Should be very convenient.

Wait what? Is this true? MSN is now supported in iChat? (Messages) You don't have to use that jabber shit? I googled this and I found an article saying it doesn't support MSN.

I don't miss the progress indicators, I feel Safari finally renders everything fast enough to not notice - it even loads some things like Google searches in the background. 5.2 feels snappy, I miss my RSS feed though, and the reader button is excessively large and pointless.
 
OT- Is there an iPad 3 thread? I'm unable to locate. Aren't we potentially less than 2 weeks away from press invites?
 
Urge to switch to mac rising

I'm getting an iPad 3 so a MacBook might be overkill, but maybe I will wait for the iMac refresh and see what it has to offer

Being a PC gamer it might be hard to switch to Mac tho

This is weird, it provides me with the option of setting up MSN accounts, I haven't had the chance to actually use it though (will do so tomorrow). I have the Microsoft Messenger app installed but I have no idea if that's related. I did use that Cocoon plugin a while ago but it's not installed anymore.

Bootcamp yo, I spend as much time in Windows 7 gaming as I do in OS X working
 
The generic screensaver that shows your computer name + apple logo was updated to just have a flat gray logo (glad :P).

just installed os x 10,8 and no msn here :/ I guess Microsoft Messenger app is the reason why u see it

YES, this is my problem. I cannot download anything from iTunes or from the Mac App Store unless I go to an internet cafe who have proxies and fiddled IP's and whatnot.

BUT, I CAN download software updates and podcasts just fine. With this change, will I no longer be able to DL software updates, like Apps?

What about messages sent to your phone number? I'm not seeing a way to add my number to the Mac messages. Only messages sent to one of my email accounts show up there, which is pointless because everyone texts my phone number.

That is awesome if search is focused right when I open launchpad. Could this replace Alfred as my App launcher? I notice that I use alfred more as a spotlight replacement anyway, so who knows.

Also pretty awesome that we can now reorder the categorization sections in the finder sidebar. :D

The iCloud file management windows look interesting, like the next step between a merge between Finder and iOS.

Yes, messages sent to my phone number show up on all three. My number is linked to my Apple ID.

I just hope Launch Pad remembers where I fucking put my goddamn icons after a reboot. Wait, no, fix that now, please. Not in the Summer.

I should try deleting my database again and starting over fresh. But goddamn it's stupid it can't remember an icons position. I mean, what if iOS did that? Huh? iOS doesn't forget where I put my apps. WHY DOES LAUNCH PAD? Call the iOS team into your office OS X team and have them help you FIX THAT SHIT!

repairing permissions doesn't help? seems like some read/write issue.
 
It's a buggy as shit Dock issue. And yes, it's the Dock as everything having to do with the OS seems to be contained in the Dock for some reason because you always have to kill the Dock to apply changes.
 
Religiously. But I will try again at some point. Then I will try deleting and recreating my icon setup. Then I will try sacrificing a lamb upon an altar. Hopefully one of them will work.

You know what Jasoco, we should make a pact. If Mountain Lion doesn't fix the sorting of Launch Pad apps, we won't upgrade. I'll do it, that shit is the main reason why I don't use Launch Pad to begin with.

Yes, i'm OCD.
