Awesome news, looking forward to seeing what's new. Nobody seems to have a changelog anywhere.

Just noticed Jasoco is banned. Too bad, he was a really great poster, hope he's not gone for long.

Some things from around the net:

This is rather interesting, looks like we'll be able to get notifications from websites too:

• They've changed the loading bar in Safari too. No longer is it a solid aqua blue progress bar it's now a sort of blue pulse, looks very swish!

• The App Store has had it's close, minimise, maximise buttons moved from the centre of the titlebar to the top corner like all the other apps.

With the basic concept of Windows 8 being "you have a PC and tablet OS on your computer and can switch between them at any time," I wonder if the "iOS-ification" of OS X could possibly lead to something similar.

Looks like Facebook will make it in to the share sheets, though you can't add your account in system preferences yet and it seems to be only active in QT X.

Eventually, maybe, but I think Apple expects the iPad to be the computer for everyone and the Mac to be the computer for certain tasks & people. I think we're more likely to get a beefed up iOS over time than a dumbed down OS X. Maybe that's ultimately the same, though.

When will TextEdit be updated for tabbed use? I'm thinking of using the new notepad simply for the convenience of having multiple 'documents' open in a single window.

TextEdit has always been annoying for me, as I hate juggling ten+ text documents around, but there is no real solution/alternative (imo).

Real men use vi*, and the terminal has been tabbed for years.

I don't see them adding tabs to anything in the near future. Maybe when TextEdit and the Finder becomes apps for pros they will get around to doing it. But as it stands they can't even agree on a single tab widget and re-invent the Safari one at seemingly every new release, so I hope they don't anytime soon.

Facebook integration was also implied in early builds of iOS 5.1. The logical takeaway is that Apple's working out a deal with Facebook and wants to get the features all set so it can be switched on pretty quickly once both companies come to agreement.

Not a fan of Smultron/Fraise?

Ah. I see now. Thanks :) so far I guess it only works with other devices running Mountain Lion, but it's a oh-so-lovely feature that would've come in handy almost every day so far.

AirPlay is going to be awesome. I finally decided to get an Apple TV. I just wish Apple was less vague about what Summer 2012 mean. I'd love if it was out before August.

If they are truly going on yearly cycles, I assume it will be out around July 20, seeing how that's when Lion came out.

Plus, DP2 feels just as solid if not more so than the first Lion release.

We're still waiting for Lion features in Office, so don't hold your breath.

Yeah, remember when they said that it would be a couple of months for all the new Lion features, which would mean significantly rewriting their code to be 100% Cocoa?

Clearly they were like, "Please", we're just going to make you buy a whole entire new version of Office from the app store.

Honestly might switch to Pages though. Office is almost no longer needed.

Are the Mountain Lion Macs delivering 1080p when desktop streaming via Airplay to the new AppleTV?

i would like to know this. also, is it lag-free? there's noticeable lag when mirroring my 4s screen on apple tv. it would be cool to be able to play starcraft on my tv without hooking up stuff.

Will Game center show iOS scores too?

I'm guessing the answer is "yes....sort of."

That is, I think it will show all scores associated with whatever game you're looking at....but tha many games will be either a "Mac" version or "iPad" or "iPhone" version and show scores individually in those games.

For those that are universal, it will probably show all the scores, regardless of machine, much like it currently is now.

Will it be possible to use secondary monitors?
I mean, in a useful way and without getting nuts because it sucks so much.

Not sure what you mean.

It's possible to use a second monitor in every version of Mac OS X. I know in Lion, it's less than useful if you use fullscreen apps, but that's easily rectified....by not using fullscreen.

Not sure what you mean by "in a useful way without getting nuts". You could be more specific as to what you mean.

Oops, damn. Yes, of course I was talking about fullscreen apps in Lion, sorry. I had just been very frustrated by it when I wrote that post.
It renders the second screen useless..except the app has secondary panels. Watching a movie fullscreen in one screen and browsing the web in the other? Nope.
And when using Mission Control, you can't drag a window from one screen to the other. You have to leave MC first.
I just hate Lion. Gonna have to decide if I upgrade to Mountain Lion or downgrade to Snow Leopard.

So, updating that, Microsoft finally added Lion fullscreen support to Office. SP2 is out now.

Yeah, fullscreen+secondary screen really sucks in Lion. I guess they were trying to go for a forced distraction free zone, but if someone really wanted that, he could just turn off one of the screens.

That said, I never ever need to use Lion's fullscreen. There are movie players that use fullscreen like in Snow Leopard (like MPlayer X) and don't clear out the other screen.

Yeah, I would love it if you could show two full screens in lion. But that said, I kind of see what apple are doing...it,s meant to be fullscreen....the idea of using only one app at a time. For example, when I hook up a tv to my mac to watch fullscreen tv shows, it's nice that it blanks out the other screen for me. All in all, though, would like to see an option. Just use the other screen as the primary desktop would suffice.

I used expose all the time in snow leopard, and never used spaces, but I found in lion that I really like fullscreen mode, so i don't have multiple windows anymore. I keep wondering if I was pushed into using fullscreen because missin control is kind of a mess, or if fullscreen is just awesome. Hard to tell.

Expose on Leopard was incredible, especially in combination with Spaces. It was so smooth. And very intuitive, I could actually predict the locations and sizes of all windows before activating Expose. Flick the mouse (active corner), move the cursor to the location the window I was looking for would move even before the Expose animation ends, click and done.
It felt good.

They changed it slightly in Snow Leopard. If I recall correctly, the screen estate was split and assigned to each window equally, independent of their relative sizes. Did not like this. But Dock Expose was great.

And now, Mission Control. It's terrible, at least for me.

I didn't mind the change in
Snow Leopard.... It was different, and did take a little getting used to, but I adjusted.

Mission Control is weird. I liked Apple,s way of making less steps to doing something. Mission control feels like an extra step. Where old exposé was 'take a step back to see what you're doing and then go back in', mission control is more like 'take a big step back, then you have to take a couple of smaller steps to get back in’.

It's ok, but just feels like too much going on in one motion.

All I want is the windows snapping function for like on windows 7, where you can have two screens perfectly divide up the screen with the auto snapping

Hopefully Mountain Lion enables us to read text/whatsapp messages received on the iPhone on the Macs. That would be so fucking useful if you don't have the phone around. Your phone functions as a phone and pushes the data it needs to to the bigger screens over wifi. Anyone know of some such function?

Guess this is just day dreaming for now, huh :(

You can already do this with Google Voice and GrowlVoice from the Mac App Store. Or AirDroid. Or iMessage and Messages.

I'm using Moom for window size/position management. It does not offer the window snapping from Windows 7, however, but you can define keyboard shortcuts for that (or use one of the buttons in the Moom bubble).

So if you really want snapping, use BetterSnapTool. If you prefer fine-grained resizing/repositioning, use Moom.

So I'm really looking forward to hearing what under the hood changes are being included in Mountain Lion through WWDC and developer sessions, because, as of now, the new applications and features leave a lot for me to desire.

I'll obviously spend $30 to upgrade just to stay on the latest version of OS X, but as of now, I don't even feel like it's $30 worth of upgrades (Then again, I'm now used to Apple's $30 OSes haha).
