Mad Max PC performance thread

Nobody but you can answer that question. How much do you care about technical improvements? Is twice the framerate important to you?

Considering the hardware you got and the fact that PC games typically are cheaper, in the future you really should consider the PC versions of multiplatform games. After you've played a few of them and gotten used to the prices and improved performance, it can become difficult going back :)
I care allot about technical improvements in my older age, lol, which is why I got this PC built to begin with. Only reason I didn't buy PC was cuz I was able to get the game this past Friday. My ? Was, will the improvements really be that noticeable other then the 60 fps as opposed to 30. Anyways, I think I may go for it, lol, thx allot for the advice.

My living situation is Alrite. Just I don't know if it will really be that much of a difference? Which is why I was wondering what u PC guys think? I've always played on console and kind of got used to it, but for example like GTA V was so much more beautiful on PC @ 60fps. Really enjoyed that.

Return/trade-in the console version. Find a site that has the PC version for ~$30.

It should be a noticeable uptick in image quality. In the future, prioritize PC versions for multiplatform purchases. Typically, wait until release so you can find out if the port is good, though Steam refunds kinda negates that.

Ya think I may do that, thanks allot.

Maxed every setting, no AA at 2560x1440 with an R9 295x2 and i7-4790k. Installed it to my SSD and this game is smooth as silk! 160fps in the first area and barely any slowdowns.

Why it can't be right? If game uses 4.3, but only 3.5-4 is available it just means that data will be swapped in and out of VRAM as needed because not everything can be loaded into memory at once.

TBH I thought it couldn't go over 4 without performance issues.

By living situation I meant more: Where is your PC located, do you have a controller hooked up for it, etc. With that rig and you're buying multiplatform on PC I figured you have to have something about the layout of your stuff pulling you toward PS4.

I have everything maxed out at 1080p and it does not a drop a frame below 60. Honestly really impressed with this port. I am two hours in and really enjoying this game.

i5 3570k @ 4.2ghz
gtx 980
16 gig of ram

I'm using an xb1 controller and I have the PC hooked up to my 60 inch samsung. So I'm couch gaming still. I think ill jump in and give it shot. Thanks allot though for everything. I do prefer the ps4 controller tho.

I guess my only thing now left is to completely uninstall drivers and go back to an old version. Anybody know what this is? I took a picture with Steam, and it looks completely normal. But it's different from what I am actually seeing. I took a pic with FRAPS to compare. Verified Cache, still the same.
This is what Steam screenshots sees

Do the pictures look like that in the folder when you click on "show on disk"?

It did something weird when I first launched it too. Black screened for about 15 seconds and then I hit the splash screen.

This is exactly what i got whenever I tried to launch AK. Maybe it's because the DRM? I have no idea how to fix it. I couldn't with AK.

I'm trying to reinstall it and see what happens.

You've definetly got a bad driver or your GPU is artifacting. Or maybe a monitor issue. Do you have a TV or another monitor you can try?

I'd run it through some benchmarks and stress tests, see if anything else odd pops up.

Damn I didn't even think to increase the size.
Yup! That's what I do when I'm downsampling, knock it up a few notches. Looks massive at native res but decent enough at ~4k.

Haven't been able to try it myself yet but decent performance with something around a 2600k and a 970?

I7-3770k
AMD Radeon r9 290
16gb of ram
Running off 7200rpm SSHD

Fully maxed at 1080p 60fps no issues...a first for AMD haha.

Yeah.

I just tried other games, everything seems normal. I went back to an older version of driver too, and still the same. Even used another monitor. On cutscenes, the scenes look a bit purple, but when I'm playing the game, the gamma/brightness is all the way up. I guess uninstalling the game is all that is left, but I'll try other drivers before doing so. Don't have the fastest internet speed, so looks like I'll be playing tomorrow.

Again, Steam sees different than what I'm saying by taking the same shots with FRAPS. No idea what it could be. I'll try your suggestions.

Reporting in as MGS5 downloads and saying that it seems to be a great PC port. MAXed out at 1080p and 60fps.

GTX980
2500k@4.5
8gb ram.

Based Avalanche.

yeah so I can get it to drop to 55 for a quick second during storms, but it goes right back up. This is at 4K with 2 970's. At 1440p it is a completely unwavering 60 fps.

Is the game not saving refresh rate setting for anyone else?

I'm playing on a monitor with 2560x1440 @ 144 hz but the game keeps resetting to 23 hz.

Holy shit this port is amazing. The game runs so smooth and I love that the cutscenes are done in real time. No jarring bullshit pre rendered scenes.

It reset mine to 24hz after I played the game for an hour and went back to the main menu. Looks like it's a bug

Yeah.

Looks like you accidentally left the filter on during video or photo mode. You just need to bring it back up and turn it off. you can play the entire game with a filter on.

redownloaded still getting this

It was the same shit with Batman. The only two games but what the fuck is this issue? It doesn't seem like anyone else is getting it.
