Two hours. Oh my.

Oh god this. The season finale did some weird things. I'm thinking of re-watching the entire series in anticipation.

I bought the entire 4 seasons on blu-ray on Amazon during Black Friday sales for somewhere around 30 dollars. I've been holding them back until a couple of weeks before the premiere.

I did the same thing, going to marathon 'em leading up to March 25.

I was shamefully late with this one. Watching the first four seasons on Netflix last year was my introduction to Mad Men. What an amazing show. Can't wait for S5.

Netflix was my introduction as well. It was great to go through all the seasons in a marathon and not be hung waiting for months on end to get some premiere resolution.

Once I hit that Season 4 finale it hit me. This was going to be a long, painful wait.

I'll check it out. The end of Season 4 made it feel like it was ending where it began and that there was nothing really interesting left to say about Draper or the other characters.

Don and Peggy's relationship blossomed in new ways in Series 4, I want to see where that goes in 5.

There's also Joan's, uh, secret that she hasn't mentioned to her husband. And Don's marriage.

Also hoping that Betty and Henry's relationship gets some screen time.

A single 2 hours long episode? Wow, this will be sweet. They probably have to skip quite a bit into the future so that makes sense from narrative standpoint, but I'm still impressed.

This coupled with GoT returning merely a week later and Breaking Bad beginning around a month after they wrap up will make for the best half a year of television imaginable.

Considering the show continues to increase in ratings between seasons and the fantastic word of mouth, I am very curious to see what the ratings are and how that effects the creative decisions behind the show.

Has Wiener made any notion on when he'd like to finish it?

I am pretty something was said just sure when.

Season 7 I believe.

Speaking of Trudy, every time I rewatch the pilot I laugh my ass off at the photo of Trudy that Peter has. It looks nothing like the actress they end up casting as her.

Here's hoping they recover swiftly after the finale bungle.

The good thing is that the bungle isn't indicative of bad writing, but a single questionable idea. The entire 4th season showcased impeccable character development, so I'm not at all worried about season 5. Not because I'm an eternal optimist, but because I have no reason to feel that the show is losing its quality writing.

The finale shook things up, and whether you agree with the direction that you think its headed in or not, it did make sense in the context of Don's year.

The fact that Weiner seems to hang on them saying that Don only proposed to her should mean a lot. Hopefully they're backing that truck up on that shit.

I still have no idea what that finale was about. The entire season was basically getting Don to a place where he wouldn't be that kind of guy anymore, then the last point where he writes that column in the newspaper. All of that gave me goosebumps and it just felt like a complete character transformation in a good way. Then he proposes to some girl he just spent a weekend with and it's all back to square one...

I really hope they know where they're going with this because it makes no sense to me. I know he see's her as the new Betty or whatever and it's possible in his head he's thinking he wants to make up for his 1st failed marriage and do everything right the 2nd time, but I still don't like it.

Season 4 depicted Don's struggles against his indecision in his personal life which was juxtaposed against his intuitive abilities at work. Indecision is the theme throughout his relationships. The season ended with Don winning his internal battles after a series of episodes depicting his internal strife and directionless path. He overcame himself and stepped through the door, perhaps a little too quickly, to a decision he knew seemed as right as any of his intuitive decisions at work. It clicked and he went for it.

But like most of Mad Men, every decision has a very realistic flip-side, and I expect that to be explored in the season premiere.
