Weiner has always been a bit pretentious, but if I were him, I would definitely be a bit irritated after this season.

Fans have really gone overboard with their speculation. They're treating the show like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad and expecting really crazy twists and turns. Not that the show is totally averse to high stakes, but it's never relied on them.

but that's not the only thing that bugs him though, he gets mad when people are drawing any conclusion that he isn't going for, like the question in the quote I posted. He just gets made at the over-dissection of the show period whether it's people interpreting themes or speculating on weird theories or anything.

In fact he seems more bitter when talking about themes and stuff than he does the crazy speculation.

well, the idea that every scene has some kind of thematic parallel or meaning is kind of ridiculous anyways imo. characters drive plot. I'm much more interested in a story that's tethered to interesting characters than stories that are tethered to themes (and I mean this on a very micro-level).

It must be a personal thing with certain interviewers, because as I stated earlier, he has never been remotely hostile with Terry Gross.

He should just chill, really. The fact that people are so invested in the show (to the point of devising hilariously off-the-mark, but nonetheless earnest theories) would make me happy if I were him.

The worst reception your creation could get is indifference, so I'd rather people pointlessly obsess over insignificant details than just passively spectate the show every week like some throwaway episode of The Client List.

I will amend my above statement to allow for Terry Gross to interview Weiner. Nobody else should even attempt it.

Terry Gross should interview everybody, though. She's great.

but again it's not the whacky theories that seem to bother him most, it's the other stuff. What you said still applies to that other stuff, but I also see what it might bug him.

Just wanted to say, fuck you east coasters. See you in 3-4 hours!

Also, treat the synopsis like a fortune cookie by adding "in bed" to the end!
