Watching the episode now.

Gotta say, I'm loving Megan this season.

And I love how her mother's advice was basically, "Gurl, it's time to go up in that closet and get out that Freekum Dress."

Man, Weiner is selfish.
"So what arcs are left in the season? OK, I'll take all of these."

I expect Pete will be upset about the merger. Cooper complimented Pete on how lean and efficient he'd gotten SCDP. Plus, he'll be lost in a crowd of partners.

Yeah, I can't wait to see the fallout from this. Peggy, Joan, Pete, ROGER

Does this make Harry more likely or less likely to get partner status?

Has the new car type been confirmed? I googled the code name they gave and came up with Vega, which was an initial success but then became emblematic of Detroit's decline in the 70's.

Not sure how I feel about tonight's ep. Still processing it. Sure, lots of stuff happened, but Mad Men is more about the stuff between the stuff, if you know what I mean. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the season, though, and I'm sad we're more than halfway through.

Damn @ the scale of what happened in this episode. Man, just when you think this show is done with pitch-perfect, seasons-long related plot strands that finally explode into one perfect elegant, beautiful Mckayla Maroney level landing with the story pay off, they go and execute an hour of television like this.

I think Peggy and Don are going to tear each other apart this time. Not allies at all.

It gets him off the hook for screwing up his father in law's account, too. I don't think he'll mind.

He will mind. He just went on a tirade about how Don always does things that he thinks is best for everyone else and blah blah blah. He'll be bitter as fuck that Don not only stole Pete's glory for his plans to bring the business public, but also came up with an impulsive plan to rearrange everyone's lives at his whim... like Tarzan swinging from the trees.

Even if it worked out perfectly for Pete he's never gonna give Don any credit. He's been sipping the haterade for whole seasons now. The last time anything really positive happened between them was when Don payed Pete's way to maintain the company all the way back in S4. Plus Pete's life just went to shit for real now, so I don't think he's going to be in the best state when he hears about it.

You know you've watched a broad range of TV in your lifetime when you're watching Mad Men and think "Hey, isn't that banker from Herman's Head?"

That was awesome, top 5 episode of Madnen for sure.

- Don truly is selfish
- Magen's mom at the dinner table was hilarious
- Peggy is so done living in the ghetto and the boyfriend
- Rogers meeting with Chevy was clever
- Thay Joan scene, damn!

Soooo much happened, love it.

I recognized cancer dude from the office when Michael meets with the other branch managers

and logans dad from Veronica mars (he was in last week too I know)

BEAT THAT

How could the season opener be two hours, and yet this was only one? I liked all the developments of the episode, but not the episode itself (minus the Joan rant). Really rushed. Basically just a bulleted list of plot points.

Great episode. Interesting twist with the merger.. I can't remember feeling like Don has been genuinely happy in a long time but he seemed like he was when in Chaough's office.

Potential spoilers related to tonight's developments.

XP-887:

The Vega received praise and awards at its introduction, including Motor Trend Car of the Year. Subsequently the car became widely known for a range of problems related to its engineering, reliability, safety, propensity to rust, and engine durability. Despite a series of recalls and design upgrades, the Vega's problems tarnished both its own as well as General Motors' reputation. Production ended with the 1977 model year.

1967:

Adrian Kantrowitz performed the first pediatric heart transplant in the world on December 6, 1967 at Maimonides Hospital (now Maimonides Medical Center) in Brooklyn, New York. This was the first heart transplant of any kind in the United States.

This is more exciting than when we found out Margaret Sterling's wedding date
