Madden 360 footage on NFL Network

If games end up being rushed from a graphical POV, I'd blame MS for having the dev kits finalized at such a late stage. But if the game was rushed from a gameplay/polish POV, I'd blame devs (like EA and Rare) because MS told them last year at this time to start making them.

I think EA will come out with something solid. But they aren't known for pushing console hardware (not even PC hardware) and so I don't expect something mindblowing. Whereas games like PGR3 will be.

Maybe it was just that 'damn NEXT GEN!' gloss, but I remember being visually floored by Madden 2001 for PS2 @ launch. Between Madden 01, Tekken Tag, and RRV, PS2 had at least 3 games that really made me feel the jump to a new gen. As long as 360 has a similar scenario, I'll be happy.

what do you expect? Launch is about 3 months away. Madden 360 is a game that was expected by many to be one of the first to really show off what the 360 can do- yet EA has, for whatever reason, shown little to nothing on it.

Well,I do know that with the console releases like a day away they're not gonna blow their 360 load anytime soon probably.

And my main comment was that most of the people in here singing doom and gloom wouldn't have bought it if it even looked absolutely photo realistic. ;)

One complete thought - the most obvious and most overlooked in the thread.

You can apply that to pretty much any game. I'm wondering when MS will show their hand. If Leipzig comes up empty, then I'm going to get concerned. TGS is not somewhere you show your wares to the entire world - its too Japan focussed. X05 is too late IMO.

As far as EA sports goes (and as far as I know), MS will only show Fifa 2006 next gen at the Game Convention. No Madden or NBA. NFS:MW should be there too.

they played it on the horrible Cold Pizza this morning too. Looked pretty bad for "next-gen"

I'm sort of "meh" on the whole thing anyway, but I can see how the hardcore Madden fans would be disappointed.

Just let haters hate. They could have shown a complete game displaying the finished Madden 360 containing every gameplay and graphical element that they ever wanted and people would be bashing EA still.

and as far as Cold Pizza, the segment I saw showed nothing but X-Box footage as it was a 'review' of that version.

Uh, that was current gen footage...

What the hell is up with Madden and new systems? First the PSP version ends up looking worse than it should...now the 360 version. I don't care about the series, but it's disappointing for large number of fans out there...

It was very good looking. The models were much more detailed than NFL2k1, the framerate was much smoother (rock solid 60 fps), and there were more special effects and lighting. It was a nice looking game. A friend of mine picked it up at launch, and I do remember being fairly impressed (I assumed NFL2k1 on DC would look better, but it didn't at all).

Madden 2001 looked great for the PS1.

I wouldn't have any worries on the Xbox360's version of EA's NFL. It can't be worse than last years and that was good looking.

so whats the story on this. was the footage of the current gen. did the next gen footage look good sans the frame rate??? im eager for some new info on this game

If the footage shown was running at a low framerate, it could not have been current gen footage, as all versions of Madden run at 60 fps.

All the reports I got were that the NFL Network footage looked great. If you go to any Madden forum, they are all going crazy over it. This is GAF, EA haters are going to shit on everything EA, regardless of quality. Some people in this thread are saying X-Box footage is 360 footage just to get a jab in there. Wait for the footage to hit the web and then judge for yourself. That is what I am going to do. I mean, people haven't even seen the footage and shitting all over it. Ridiculous.

well i undestand that current gen runs at 60 fps, but people are givin different stories on this forum. some say current gen, some say 4-5 sec clip of next gen with slow down?? which one is it

Different footage on different shows.

it's next gen footage of 2 players, one of them diving over the defender for a touchdown. there's also very brief footage of one of them running down the field with a close up on the face. it was 30 FPS or under cause it sure didnt seem as smooth as the Madden commercial at the NFL draft. the crowd in the background hardly animates too (they're moving but not as much as i expect them to...actually i just checked the footage again and only 1-2 people animates out of the entire crowd, and they're doing the same animation in unison)

I'd be willing to bet the broadcast wasn't either =P.

People NEED to stop saying this ignorant bullshit. You CAN tell if something is 30 or 60fps from a TV broadcast or a video.

considering they showed current gen madden in the previous 29 minutes, running in 60 fps...i guess those tv network people accidently pressed the 20 FPS button during the next gen footage :lol

If you say so, but it looked exactly like everyone here is describing it. Shitty framerate, some dude covering another guy. It looked better than the regular XBox version, just not next-gen, imo.

Maybe it was another segment. Whatever, I don't like Madden anyway.

you can tell if it's next gen right away if the game footage was letterboxed/widescreen

Only pictures I could find from the segment.

They're showing the "making of" 2006 right now.

weird, it's airing again at 11:30 AM Pacific for me. tune into the channel in about 30 minutes if you guys want to see the footage

I think you're schedule is correct because my DVR says it's on right now, but they're showing the Bears highlights.

can someonepointme to that demo?icant find a downloadable video anywhere

They never released it, it was behind the scenes at E3 in EA's Next-Gen Lab. People got to try out NBA Live 360 and Tiger Woods 360 hands-on. I think Madden was just a real-time demo with the controller only moving the camera.

people were complaining about that? seriously?

looked absolutely great to me.

"showing next gen yet?"

"next-gen yet?"

"shut up idiot!"

:lol

We had already seen a realtime character of Madden '06 for the Xbox360 come E3, why would it look any worse than that now? People.....

I laugh at the people who shit on next-gen stuff. I challenge anyone to play a current gen 720p game and not be amazed at the level of detail. Amped 2 comes to mind. Now add better textures and bump up the polys and you have a great looking game. Anyone who owns an HDTV and plays current gen Madden games is salivating for a resolution upgrade. NCAA 06 was practiacally unplayable on a big screen due to the jaggies and flicker.

i think it looks good. not exactly up to the standards of the initial pictures released of strahan and mcnabb, but still looks really good in my book

Those were "target" visuals in that commercial. Although it was mentioned by some people at EA that the game would exceed the commercial graphically.

Yes...well....um...it seems like that isn't going to happen...

exactly. i forsee these screen grabs being done pretty easily by next gen hardware, and those target visuals could probably be done a few years into these next gen systems
from the looks of this, it just appears to be the alexander demo that was shown behind closed doors, so it could be looking much better than this. nathkenn any comments from you???

Totally with you. This does look fantastic to me. Framerate is sure to be fine by release.
