Really enjoying it.
The melee combat is way more engaging than any of the other entries. Lincoln is a fucking tank.
The story and dialogue are top notch. It's a cross between 'I'm Gonna Get You Sucka', 'The Departed', and ''Goodfellas', and I mean that in the best way possible.
Spending a lot of time driving and listening to tunes. The world is extremely well realized.
On to the bullshit...I broke up a prostitution ring as an aside and then the contact needed me to kill the racket Leader, Merle. It was the exact same mission as the racket bust down. Still fun, but it's becoming easier to see how it would get the bad rap for repetitivness.
Since that I'm going into the game knowing to avoid that type of side content, I'm hoping to avoid any sort of fatigue from it. I understand some of it is forced.
Nevertheless, Hangar 13 is a really talented group. Hopefully their next game takes more inspiration for it's open world from than this one, rather than 'The Old Country'.
Funny I just started replaying it yesterday. It must be my fifth playthrough. It's also my rarest platinum.
M3 has always been my favorite out of all of them and one of my favorite games of all time. The writing, the gunplay, the OST AND licensed music really drove it for me and at the time in 2016 I totally understood the complaints, but I didn't care. I suffered through plenty of bugs, but nothing that ever broke or came close to ruining the experience. I just loved being in that world and in that time period. I remember following the fuck out of the game up until its release because I was so fascinated by the fact that a dev had not only had the balls to put out a fucking
videogame that took place in one of the worst years of the 20th century in the US (1968), but to also set it particularly when Louisiana was still fighting for Jim Crow.
Looking back the one thing I'd focus on changing the most would involve the taking over of the rackets. Having to return to the same places over again for the same type of shootouts and cash gathering (although great fun), was a terrible idea, but we're also looking at a time when open world bloat had really hit its stride (Mad Max suffered from this unfortunately the year prior, and before that Assassins Creed Unity in 2014). I think if you only had to do ONE side job i.e. blowing up supply trucks, taking out enforcers, etc that would then unlock the actual assassination/murder mission everything would've flowed millions of times better and the pacing would've been fantastic. Also, the lack of fast travel really becomes a pain in the ass eventually, so thank god the music on the radio is as good as it is.
And giving credit where it's due, Hangar 13 really patched it up well with a bunch of additions, most notably the slo mo aiming and driving. And I will die on the hill claiming they do some of the best and underrated gunplay out there. All guns feel fantastic and the hit animations and over the top reactions from enemies I find constantly entertaining. Their shotguns are also some of the best, period.
Cheers to

. I hope you stick it out. The main missions are really well done and I'm sure youll have some comments about the last few minutes. Also go for the DLC (except Stones Unturned). More people need to give this game a second chance, or a first chance. I still say it's worth a run and I'm sure you can find it for cheap nowadays.
One of my favorite cutscenes (don't watch if you're planning to play):
And one of my favorite scenes of all time in any medium (again, don't watch it if you are planning to play)
