Holy shit this guy just WORKS

Just did my first Magic Online draft.

Went 2-1 in Swiss M12. That was a ton of fun. I fear that I will do this a lot.

Yeah, now you don't even have to bother heading out to the store. Just do it at home.

Wizards wants ALL OF YOUR MONEY

Sweet, leaning even more towards Zombies now. Just need a sick 2 drop (probably with Undying) and it should be a cool tribal to play at least. I know it's mostly for limited, but it's pretty crazy how good both the new Zombie bombs completely counter all the Human decks in the metagame.

Made it to Top 4 this weekend at one of my LGS. The top prize was a Mox Ruby. Lost in game three to G/W goodstuff.dec due to mana flood. >:(

Looks like we're getting a cycle of enemy utility lands. I was kinda hoping for manlands though. Anxious to see what the U/R looks like, since my current Delver Red deck has been doin' me good.

<3 Lands that do more than just tap for mana. Almost the entire Innistrad cycle has found good homes in Standard so I expect the same of the Dark Ascension cycle.

Limited has gotten a lot better in the last six years or so since they seriously started developing sets with it in mind. A lot of older sets simply aren't designed for it, card pools didn't feel as balanced as they do today (usually).
I agree that now its more tempo based, but I don't see that as a bad thing. As for bomby rares, that really depends on the set. I agree that M12 and Innistrad both have a lot of bomb mythics that swing the game too easily, but I don't feel that Zendikar or Scars blocks had too much of that problem.

Odd stance. I found M12 games, like Zendikar games but not to the same extreme, were too fast for really expensive mythics/rares/etc. to take over too often. You were often dead if you spent too much time durdling around trying to set up or rely on a bomb. Scars block on the other hand, especially before MB and NPH rolled around, was bomb city. Way too many games were decided by someone herping n' derping their way to victory off a Carnifex Demon, Hoard-Smeleter Dragon, Sunblast Angel, "Stupid Bomb X", etc.

I do agree with your overall assessment that limited has been pretty good for the last few years save some hiccups.

My perception of M12 may be warped by my hatred for the Titans.

Holy shit at Grafdiggers Cage:

In Vintage, it stops Dredge, Tinker, Oath & Yawgmoths Will, plus Legacy stuff like Reanimator, and I'm sure stuff I'm not thinking of yet. Wow.

Wow, major effect on Vintage but I'm not sure how I like it in Limited. For one mana it basically shuts down anyone who decides to go heavy reanimation or flashback.

Good thing its rare, but I can totally see drafting U/R and then seeing someone drop that turn one and going "....shit"

Lol, it is always interesting to see a card that plays well in Standard, but have devastating effects in older formats like Vintage.

It absolutely kills Oath, Dredge, Tinker, Reanimator, Green Sun's Zenith, Birthing Pod, etc.

This is the most important card to be printed in DKA.

What are people referring to with Dredge? The card or the mechanic? I don't see how it stops either. It doesn't say that creatures can't go from graveyards to libraries.

I really don't like it. The way its worded almost looks like it was made specifically to shut down dredge. Also stops Reanimate, Snapcaster Mage, Green Sun's Zenith, Natural Order, Past in Flames and Gravecrawler before it even had a chance. I think it's undercosted too. Being colorless, 1 mana and very versatile means it will see a lot of play. Definitely a game-changer in Legacy, I think. In Vintage it will probably be a good thing for that format, although I don't pay much attention to the format.

Referring to the deck that utilizes dredge. It shuts down, Ichorid, Narcomoeba, Dread Return, Ancient Grudge. The deck is almost useless with the cage in play.

Yeah it seems like throughout the years all their attempts at nerfing or hosing Dredge never made too much of a dent and they finally wanted to put the last nail in the coffin for the deck type.

The cage also feels like a safety net. They're worried that they might break something in the block and so they're putting out an answer to the most dangerous areas.

When the whole block so far has been built around interaction with the graveyard you don't go and print the best hoser in the second set. Usually things like that are saved for the last set in the block or even the following year's set. I don't know how this got printed. Development and design really messed up.

Wow, so it counters mainly B/U? Do B/U even have a response to Grafdigger's Cage once it resolves? At least Birthing Pod players have Naturalize to respond with.

Right after they print Graveborn? Ha! That sucks. I just gained interest in building a Buried Alive deck... now I need figure out how to put artifact destruction in it.

I will probably mainboard 2 Mental Misstep in my U/W deck. Guess you could throw it in any deck really. Plenty of 1 drops to use it on.

Rule question: My opponent has 4 artifacts and targets my 4/4 with a Galvanic Blast. Can I, in response to the blast, use two Doomblades to kill 2 artifact creatures to bring him out of Metalcraft status and save my creature?

I'm fairly sure that that works, but just wanted to check since it came up last night when playing with some friends.

yes you can, metalcraft counts when the spell resolves, not when its cast. [its not a cost most of the time, but it can be sometimes]

I'm REALLY liking this set for my Tribal Cube. Also, they are REALLY pushing B/W tokens. I can't remember the last time WOTC planted so many pieces for the exact same deck into one small set. Usually a singular deck is spread out across one/two blocks.

Pretty much how I feel... I hope it doesn't kill off other deck types. It seems like it might back standard go stale and just RDW all the time.

Pretty sure the Gargoyle was supposed to be a flip card but got pushed out for whatever reason. As it is now though it's pretty fucking awful.

I have a friend who paid a ton of money for an all foil reanimator deck recently to use at legacy tournies, he is probably raging at the sight of that cage right now. I'm sure somebody will come up with a way to deal with it to some degree but it will definitely impact how a bunch of decks are run now.

Leyline of the Void is worse for reanimator. You can continue plopping fatties into the graveyard and bounce the cage and reanimate when ready to go off. Tormod's Crpyt and graveyard hate makes you restart completely. This card just... slows you down a bit. As for dredge players... I'm sorry for your loss haha. This also cuts off some vintage Oath of Druids and legacy green sun's zenith decks. I just see reanimator having more bounce cards or show and tell maindeck.
